Ostrich riding!

I never had a clue that you could actually do this. It sounds totally unreal - in the best way possible! Imagine getting up on that sleek, majestic two-legged creature and ride off at great speed. Damn, it must be so cool! Like getting to ride a mythical beast or something. I'm starting to become obsessed with this idea.

Has anybody tried it? If so, how was it?

That is horrible!
Those animals aren't built for riding! See how the guy in the blue needs to hold up the guy on the bird?

rolleyes

He's just making sure the guy gets on his way. I've seen lots of footage of people riding ostriches with no trouble at all. If you don't think they're "made" for riding you might as well say horses aren't made for riding.

Why feel sorry for them? It's just because people aren't used to the idea. I'm sure the reactions would have been similar if riding horses or mules had been a new idea.

What about horses? Ya gotta think they don't enjoy schlepping someone around on their back. Has anyone ever done any research into this?

At least they're bigger animals who are sturdy enough to handle the weight of a human and are proportioned for riding.

I was feeling a little sorry for the horses too, then I realized it was happening for years, so they're probably used to it.

i have nothing against people wearing those suits that make them look like they're riding ostriches, where they're really just half-wearing a costume and half-working a puppet. why not the puppet ostrich ride? why not that?

Yeah, but they still gotta hate it, don't ya think? By the way: couldn't these ostrich-riding people just go to that club made of ice instead?

They might hate it...espcially if they're carting around folks they don't know. Horses are pretty bright...about as smart a dog...and I'm sure they like to spend time with their humans smile

If you were a horse, wouldn't you prefer to cruise around without something on your back? Seems like a no-brainer to me. And if they are like dogs, I would think the sum-total of time they like to spend with humans involves being petted or fed. biggrin

I probably would prefer to not have something on my back, yes, but, that's just me. I can't speak for all horses... lol
Also, I didn't say they were "like dogs" I said they are as smart as dogs.

So it was cool, eh? Did you just get on its back and hold on the best you could or did you get a saddle of some sort?
Could you control it at all?
Did it run fast?
