Serenity - the movie

I saw this film yesterday and was almost moved to tears. In fact, if I had watched it alone at home and not in a theater with my brother, I would have been. It's a very smart, well-written, well-acted film as anyone who knows Joss Whedon's work will attest to. You don't have to know the original 'Firefly' TV series that the movie is based on to appreciate it, but if you have seen the series you will be doubly impressed.

Or maybe it's just me. Has anyone else seen this movie yet? What did you think?

Excellent movie thumbs up!.I loved every minute of it.My next door neighbors gave us the boxset of the TV series as a present so we were psyched to see this.It basically picks up from where the series left off. Some surprises in the movie I din't expect. The Reavers were scary , they were knda like living zombies.Hopefully there will be a sequel or even picked up as a TV series again.

I liked the tv show but I guess it will do as well as the X-Files movie. Just looks like an afterthought. Thats all

I was very surprised at certain points. It's true there could be a sequel or another series depending on the movie's success, but--and I'm trying not to spoil it--there was a certain finality to the movie that left me content and saddened. It reminded me a little of the last episode of 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer'.

I thought at first that it would be just a bigger, longer episode like the X-Files movie, but halfway through watching the film, I realized it was different. Like I said in my previous post, this was more like a big finale. Many of the plot threads that were left unresolved from the series were tied up. While there could be stories based on the charaters after the movie ended, my impression was that Joss Whedon hadn't really intended on going there and envisioned the film as a swansong.

I went to see this last night and I thought it was good! I didn't want to see it, but nothing else was playing at that time and my boy wanted to see it...so I obliged. Good flick!
