Books, Books, Books! What's on your pile? I recently finished this one:
Then on to this: (I felt sorta dirty for liking it later when I found out it was an Oprah selection) And currently reading this fascinating book...

The followup (Speaker for the Dead) is a terrific sequal, and nothing like the original (Ender's game.) Orson Scott Card has an incredible gift for story telling. His books are like CynthiaSock's ass--smooth, perfectly proportional, and a terrific ride!

I read a lot of sci-fi, but I've never read any Orson Scott Card.

Ender's Game is a book I've wanted to read for some time. I read a lot of sci-fi, but I've never read any Orson Scott Card. Card is amazing. His books are both plot and character driven and all his characters are very human. You're automatically hooked. Sci-Fi, though at times prominant in his books, is only the backdrop. Card does not go into wild speculation of what how technology affects you--rather, it's taken mostly for granted. His books are more about the human delima--Think of them as Lord of The Flies set in the future. Brilliant stuff.

It's fun sometimes to read novels that really delve into the science and tecnological advances of the future, but place a person in extraordinary circumstances in those times and I'm even more interested.
