I'd still (reluctantly*) bone her though. * reluctance not guaranteed I second that notion. I am however more of a Bucky Done Gone man meself. At Glasto she frickin owned the John Peel Tent. Sexy mammoth. "Art calls for complete mastery of techniques, developed by reflection within the soul."

Sexy mammoth. I third it. Were you there ? I was watching the coverage on TV and would love to have been there (well except for the torrential rain and rivers of mud part of it). I share Froggy's grief - I didn't lose money on the Mercury prize - but I grieve because she was the most talented and original, and the most obvious choice and still didn't win, and even worse, lost to someone I've never even heard of. Boomtown Rats - Drag Me Down. Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.

You really need this. Its the most evocative LP of the year, his voice is incredible. "Art calls for complete mastery of techniques, developed by reflection within the soul."

In fact, it was that performance that led me to go out and buy Arular, I'd never heard of her before then. They also showed her doing Bucky Done Gun and Pull up the People, as far as I can remember. So how come I've never heard of Anthony + Johnsons ? I mean, I've heard of M.I.A. and she's not around that long. What sort of music are they ? If they're all whiney and angst-ridden a-la David Gray / James Blunt / Paddy Casey then you can keep them. Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.

Ahhh, chief - you have no idea how far you are from Anthony & The Johnsons with reference to those turd-bags you list above. Gray David et al are all products of the supermarket age we live in where music can be produced and packaged off to the Waitrose/ASDA and the mums and dads can buy the latest 'pop' shite while queuing up at check out. Anyways, Anthony is such a special talent - he is completely unique and I recommend you buy his I Am A Bird Now LP now - its immense; although it may strike you as completely off the wall to begin with - but all the best LPs are worth perservering with. If you wish further insight into the genius of this LP take a look here http://www.metacritic.com...2005.shtml His LP is standing fourth in the year's top album reviews which takes in all the averages of media reviews. You'll notice Arular is seventh - and only a solitary point behind. Both LPs are completely rich with unique treasures. Also on that list is LCD Soundsystem - another LP I highly recommend - that too has hardly been off my jukebox this year - and he played Glasto too - James Murphy is a contemporary wizard.
