America's Next Top Model Season 5........Where's Ace? who watched? It seems like the show gets less exciting as it goes along, imo. Janice isn't there anymore, so that kinda took something away from the show. Twiggy's the replacement judge though. I don't really have any favorites this season.....I guess I'll pull for Coryn because she's unique looking, or Nik since she's from ATL. I thought that girl Sarah would've been sent home, since she messed up on the runway twice. She seems so clumsy....not like I can talk about someone being clumsy. It's nothing really special about her.

Ahh my favorite guilty pleasure. This season is less exciting and though I loathed Janice Dickenson, she did add something to judging. The pool of contests is MUCH better than last cycle and Tara Banks is looking 100% better as well. I don't know who I'm pulling for but I think Coryn has a good chance because they love the My Fair Lady aspect on that show. I will pull for my fellow Atlantan Nik for obvious reasons, but I was pissed when they let one of my favorites go without even showing her audition/interview. The girl with the black dress on in the grocery when they were looking for chapstick, she was too hot! I also love the Puerto Rican beauty from FL, but we know how they will use her size(the size of a real woman I might add) against her..oh well... ANTM combines two of my loves, women & fashion. Yeah, I caught the big show last night. And, I gotta say, I think the thrill is gone for me.
The hook for me in Season 1 was Elyse. Here was a girl who was totally my type physically and style-wise and she was also incredibly intelligent and witty to boot. Take away the youthful self-righteousness and it was almost as if I'd posted in one of those "Create Your Perfect Partner" threads here and she'd come to life (I don't know if I still feel the same way, but I digress...). I also enjoyed the show because I felt that I had some expertise in the industry and it was validated. Of course, the show is not really about finding "America's Next Top Model" at all (and the results would bear that out), but taking the modeling industry's version of an ugly duckling and turning her into a swan. It's all about story arc; the casting and order of the cuts are done for dramatic effect. That said, I found no one compelling last night. We have all the same old characters (The Plus-size Girl Who Doesn't Have a Hope in Hell of Winning, The Girl with Mommy Issues, The Girl Who Wants to Rise Above Her Circumstances, etc., etc.). I also miss Janice (say what you like about the woman, but she tells it like it is and I find her funny as hell!). And - oh, yeah - none of the girls really rang the bell in my shorts. Perhaps I'm also at a point in my life where the fashion industry is seeming increasingly repugnant to me. Is my head still turned by a beautiful woman? Of course. Do I still believe in the lies the fashion industry sells? Not so much. Will I tune-in next week? Oh, probably... Will I hang in all season? Too soon to tell. Truthfully, I'm still in Big Brother withdrawal (this season was wicked-good) and that'll be a hard act to follow. |

I know Coryn kinda looks like a man in that pic, but in her audition she was very pretty, imo. She seems pretty laid back, like she won't be the drama queen of the house. They tweezed her eyebrows a little too, because they were worse than that. They were killing me at first.....Tyra called her Groucho Marx. This show always manages to get to me  My take on the contestants:
Ashley: didn't think she'd go far w/ those bags under her eyes (which you can't see here) but I certainly didn't think she'd be the first to go
Bre: She literally looks like a different person every time I see her. Might be a cameleon, but I'm not sure how far she'll go. She's pretty... almost average but not... wouldn't take her for a model off the bat but what the hell... with her hair down she could rock it. Great skin! Cassandra: Another pug-nosed girl. BORING... NEXT... Coryn: Her body is more athletic than model-like, but she seems to photograph well so far. Not all that cute but should be around a while. She has potential b/c she's not average, her features are strong. Definitely has a shot... Diane: I love her face!! I know they make it hard for bigger girls but she's curvy & proportioned (unlike Tocarra who was all boobs) so maybe she'll have more of a shot. I dunno, I think they'll boot her @ some point but she's gorgeous. Ebony: I'm hoping she'll photograph well. I love her face, the angles of it, but she's gotta lose the ponytail & morph already. It's gotta come across in pics - if she photographs well she has a shot... Jayla: She's cute, the big eyes help... Not memorable to me but she has a legitimate shot... 
Kim: I guess Kim is kinda interesting just b/c she's so different from the other girls in the competition. But she can't walk to save her fucking life & the shape of her body will only work w/ certain clothes/looks. She's there for the airtime, no real chance of winning IMO - the walk & the body will do her in. AND she has no clue how to apply makeup? Please... you would think she would have dabbled (just for the hell of it, not that she needs to start wearing it) before coming to this shit 
Kyle: I don't remember anything about her really. She's okay, I guess she has a shot 
Lisa: I love this girl!! I think she'll photograph amazingly (like she did last night) but the squareness of her jaw & angle of her nose may cause some problems @ times. The camera might love her though, I hope so. Right now she's my favorite
Nicole: BORING... reminds me of Geena Davis... she could sell the shit out of an apron & an easy bake oven though Not a boob in sight, she's outta here man...
Nik: This girl really surprised me. When she had those specs & that thick-ass lip gloss on I was like  but she transforms out of her glasses & was killin' it @ the show. I agree w/ Mrs. Jay on this one - she's a silent weapon right now. I'm hoping for her too
Sarah: I have no idea why this heffa is there  I mean, how in the FUCK are you gonna be a model if you can't even balance in heels, let alone WALK  Her face is strange to me - she looks like a plastic surgery don't (her nose/lips & the bridge in between them), but she's apparently from a small town so she couldn't have had anything done. I think they kept her b/c her photo came out decent & they wanna see this bitch fall again Super wide shoulders... she's GONE very soon...
On another note: I'm missing Ms. Dickinson
