Cast Your Own Comic Book Movie!

Just for the sheer hell of it, pretend you are given the power to cast your favorite comic book(s)! Tell us who you would cast, and (if you are so inclined) why.

the japanese manga 'black jack' and/or 'nana ero inco'

black jack is about a talented surgeon, an outcast, whose face is mutilated therefore requiring a skin transplant so that half of his face is that of an african american. he gets into advnetures, scrapes, saving people from peril. i'd cast johnny depp

nana iro inco is about a con-man/robionhood figure who specializes in disguises, he's in love with a policewoman who is forever chasing after him and almost arresting him. again, johnny depp.

boxed i'm on a johnny depp trip today

'transmetropolitan', with gary oldman as spider jerusalem...i have no idea who i'd cast as the amazon female bodyguard or the editor's niece (thora birch maybe?). i'd love to see this as a movie as much as i'd hate to see it screwed up by hollywood.

Not familiar with either of these, but Depp rocks, so I can get behind this! Depp is my choice to play the Master of the Mystic Arts known as Dr. Strange!

I'd cast Collin Chou as Doc's assistant, Wong:

Oldman is an interesting choice to play Spider. I like it!

On MY thread, we shall pretend that all of these films will turn out as wonderful, faithful adaptations!

Looks cool! I have no idea who she is, or what the comic is about, but it looks groovy!

If they were to make a Green Lantern movie of Hal Jordan's origin, who would you think would do justice to that character? (No Jack Black jokes here! mad )

A few years ago I would have said Lacey Chabert (Party Of Five) for the lead in Death: The High Cost Of Living, but she's too big and busty now.

I'll cast a JLA movie! Just for continuity, I'll keep Christian Bale as Batman, and Brandon Routh as Superman. Here's the rest:

Morena Baccarin as Wonder Woman:

Ryan Reynolds as The Flash:

Lawrence Fishburne as The Martian Manhunter:

Jim Carrey as Plastic Man:

Jamie Bamber as The Green Lantern (Hal Jordan):

DB Woodside as The Green Lantern (John Stewart)

Brad Pitt as Aquaman:

Charisma Carpenter as Huntress:

Ummm, wrong. Cronenberg is basing his film on the DC/Vertigo graphic novel by John Wagner and Vince Locke, which predates Azzarello's 100 Bullets by about three years. They have a (sorta) similar premise to start off with, but go in very different directions.

See my JLA roster. I think Bamber is doing a great job as hotshot pilot Lee "Apollo" Adama on the new version of Battlestar Galactica. I think he'd make a great hotshot pilot known as Hal Jordan.

Yeah, Wizard called this one a few months back. Has Joss Whedon mentioned her name in connection to the film yet? I would think she has the best chance of being cast in WW since he already directed her in Firefly/Serenity.

Wonder Woman is a MUCH bigger woman than her. Let's not forget that.

Nope. Whedon is being rather secretive about it, basically just saying that he hasn't gotten to the casting stage yet. He DID deny that he was going to screen test Charisma Carpenter or Sarah Michelle Gellar (both of whom expressed interest in the part), saying he wasn't going to just cast his friends.

That's true, but if you're restricting the role to actresses taller than 6' then your chances of getting someone who can really act will be much smaller. Hugh Jackman is a lot taller than Wolverine, right?

Eh, they can make her look taller than she is. I personally think she has the right look, and that is what matters.

C'mon folks! This is fun! Keep 'em coming!

Next up, I'll cast an Avengers movie. I'd say there will probably never be a live action film of this team, since it would be cost-prohibitive. Of course, if they ever did make it, it would probably have to be called The Ultimates (the name of the Ultimate Universe version of the team), since there was a sixties TV series of the same name that was made into a horrible film a few years back.

I've decided to cast this partially basing it on the classic Marvel U, and partially on The Ultimate U. The reason for this is that the Ultimate version is a little more diverse:

Ryan Reynolds as Captain America(yeah, I know I cast him as The Flash as well, but who cares?)

Christian Kane as Iron Man

Triple H as Thor

Grace Park as The Wasp

Nathan Fillion as Giant Man

Tahmoh Penikett as Hawkeye

Jude Law as The Vision

Kate Beckinsale as The Scarlet Witch

Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury
