starship troopers is a pristine movie... but what the hell are you all talking about? None of these movies are available commercially in HD yet.

I don't even think they have a consumer HD player yet...

we got HD channels free to air and they broadcast all the HD shows and if there's not one showing they have like a music and animal or scenery thing which looks fantastic.

Ja, thank you very much. Except we are on PAL over here. We don't have HD broadcast yet, major channels are starting in Jan 2006 and then all terrestrial by 2010 according to the BBC. This is why I didn't splash out on a HDML cable just yet they are omg expensive.

I realise that the TV is ahead of itself but I just wanted thoughts on a great movies to see currently. I am hardly gonna leave the puppy in a box until after new year now am I?

Thanks for the suggestions, now I can look forward to the weekend mr.green

okay here is the difference between HDTV and regular tv:

american tv/dvd's are at the most: 720 by 480 pixels of resolution.

pal tv/dvd's are at the most: 768 by 526 pixels of resolution

true HDTV is: 1920 by 1080!!!!! pixels of resolution.

there is no comparison in picture quality. HDTV is completely different.

IMPORTANT:
There are no dvd's available commercially today in HD format (well, maybe in Japan). So you can't really test your HDTV with a dvd.

Why did you put "test" in quotes? I think I'm going to start "using" quotes more often to try to make "my" posts more interesting. Hopefully this "works".

Seriously, unless it's filmed in HD you wont see much difference from a regular high end tv. Save 'Glenda' (as you said you call it) virginity for a football game or something else filmed in HD. Lost would've been cool to watch in HD but thats already over for this week lol.

For emphasis! Also becasue I am not strictly speaking testing it, it works ok. IT is a bad habit that is not really correct english but i use it a lot for Scientific publishing where it is acceptable. I think it can be used in Law this way to. Of your three uses only "my" works.
