gilian anderson is INCREDIBLY blase about her sexuality, despite the fact that she's popularly thought of as a heterosexual actress. i remember her going on a big rant about homophobia on letterman once. maybe it's not necessary to grab the cover of TIME magazine when you come out professionally - what's the big whoop?

.....i think you definitely have a point here. i've worked in the fashion industry for years, and the people that you meet along the way because you're working or holed up somewhere for 5 days with them on a shoot, you learn a lot about their private lives when you're stuck with them 10 hours a day and having to eat with them at night for team dinners, and they often include their significant others or whatever "conquest" they have going on at the moment...it's always something that you just kinda dismiss and don't think about after you find out...but maybe only people within the arts world feel that way...for example if i had ever revealed to my 70 yr old dad that rosie o'donnell was gay (this was in the begining of her show when all the old people loved her for being sooo MIKE DOUGLAS-like), he probably would have shit a brick !

A really good friend of mine is Bette Midlers hair stylist. He has to go with her when she's on tour. Well, I can't believe how professional he is. I know he has lots of dirt but he wont give it up. I don't think I could be in that profession for long because I'm just so star struck. He has told me some cute stories about other famous clients though.

Gillian Anderson chaired the benefit committee that supports the Trevor Helpline, the nation's only 24-hour suicide prevention hotline geared to gay teens. Earlier in the year, we recall, she was among the presenters at the LA Gay and Lesbian Center's Women's Night, honoring her pal Anne Heche. Is there something behind the way Anderson appears committed to gay issues, we wonder -- or is it wishful thinking?

It's no secret Anderson is a heartthrob among the lesbian "X-Files" fan contingent. The mere mention of Anderson's pending presence at the Trevor Project fundraiser was enough to send dykes dialing for the $50 (and up) tickets. . . .

Of course, Anderson would rather be abducted by aliens than get too chummy with the press, especially after some bad experiences early on in her career. So, with her manager, who would make an army drill sergeant proud, hovering protectively, we settled for a cordial chat about her involvement in the Trevor Helpline -- and a view of her low-cut dress without the concealing stole. . . .
