I really don't like Al Roker

Will somebody please tell Al Roker that he is NOT a TV reporter, anchorman, co-anchor, host of any kind, good interviwer, or a good speaker.

HE IS A WEATHERMAN FOLKS! THAT'S IT, JUST A WEATHERMAN!

Just do the weather and go home. Let someone else handle the interviews or even the little funny lite-hearted pieces.

I have to turn the channel whenever his (once fat head) now thin droopy face with crooked teeth, comes on the screen.

his skin looks too big for his body, and he's always way more chipper than a human being should be. it's not natural. i think he may have a coke problem.

Even goofy Willard Scott, just did the weather, wore funny hats, did his Smucker thang and went home. They NEVER let him step in to interview someone.

That was my first thought. He lost something along with the weight. sad
I don't watch tv news in the morning any more. It's hard enough to listen to the radio news.
His other shows on the food channel are sad too. He probably can't eat any of the food he's talking about.Maybe just the bite for the camera. sad

Networks' morning shows are equal parts entertainment (sometimes more so) and news.

Al is playing a role -- the jovial, wisecracking weatherman. He (from Wikipedia) has produced several programs for PBS, MSNBC, CNBC, and the Food Network. He is also the author of several non-fiction books, and an avid barbecue enthusiast. Roker has also filled in for Katie Couric and Matt Lauer as co-host of The Today Show. Roker also filled in for Jack Ford as co-host of the Sunday Today show on father's day in 1999 which was the first time that Roker acted as anchor of a Today show program.

Roker also is married to journalist Deborah Roberts. I´m thinking, for them to have what appears to be a successful marriage and for him to be a producer and occasional guest host, he has to have more on the ball than his usual comic banter would suggest.

I wasn't commenting on his intelligence,I think he's quite intelligent, but his on air personality has changed since his surgery. I hope that his weight loss gives him a longer, healthier life, I just liked him better before. I'm turned off of the morning news shows altogether now, not just Al in particular. neutral

I hear ya.

The flip side of it is this: Roker is an extremely talented, successful black man in an industry that has few of those. I think his schtick strays a little too close to buffoonery, but that's just me.

But, hey, everyone can't be Max Robinson.

I didn't need to see Al's resume to toot his horn as a black personality, author etc. Every news show has one, or has to have one. Al has been handed success on a silver platter. Riding the coat tales of everyone involved.

He also made me switch to GMA, where there is a good host. (oh, and she just happens to be black)

don't be mad. NBC is owned by GE and one of there main pet peeves is for their employees to be crossfunctional, which may explain why Al has taken on so many task and it just looks better on your EMS. i wouldn't be surprised if ol' Al, Matt or Katie are operating the cameras during some of the interviews.

I've always liked Al ever since he was the weatherman on NBC 4 in New York. I like his light-heartedness. He's cool people.
