Post your ART Part...???

Inspired by Isten's thread from a few months back, I decided to dig through some of my old portfolios to see what I've got to share. A lot of this is quite old, much from high school and early college, but I'm still quite proud of it. I don't draw or paint or work on projects like I used to. Same with my photography. And my music. What's wrong with me!? confuse But Isten got me wishing and wanting to start fresh with it. So I'm taking a quick look back to remind myself that I used to do this all the time. Basically a pep rally for myself. lol So anyway, here's what I've got for now.

Pencil drawing of a lantern and various fishing equipment. I still like this one. biggrin

Pencil drawing of a Ukranian girl, titled Katrina. I think I was 15 when I did this.

Watercolor Native American Woman, untitled. I never finished the background but I love the expression on her face.

I believe this was oil on glass. Not sure though. Cut off on the left side cuz the scanner wasn't big enough.

This was an etching on glass I did with the purpose of making prints. I couldn't get the grooves deep enough, so I was kinda disappointed with it at the time. So I just turned it into a paint pallet. Looking back though, I like how it turned out as its own thing.

Just a fun project for my Color Theory class in college.

Fun with substances and a copy machine. blunt

Joyce Warhol

That's all for now. I might post more as I get 'em scanned. Please show us some of your own. I always love seeing what others come up with. biggrin

I have no art to post.
But nice to see you're being creative again.
I really like Katrina's eyes.

I really like the way you tried out a lot of different styles.
Is there any direction you'd favor at the moment? I've been on
a bit of a break as well, just fueling up on inspiration again
and looking at lots of other people's artwork.

Next month I'm going to the Louvre (!) so I guess that once I
get back home from that I'll need a lot of paper and pencils.

But the thing to kickstart your interest again is usually just
buying note/drawing/sketchbooks and pencils, crayons, brushes,
and some paints or the like. Having those close at hand again
or even lying within sight makes you more anxious to get up n
do something with them. Even if you don't do it straight away
it still registers somewhere in your mind and speeds up that
process of getting your inspirational juices flowing again.

And please *share* with us once you've created something new
again. And fcuz older work is always great to see as well. It
makes me want to try out different things again as well.

I especially like the idea of your color theory class piece.
I'm already thinking about something along the lines of that
to try out over here lol.

thumbs up!

Thanks guys. biggrin

My mom liked Katrina so much that she claimed her for herself like 10 years ago and still has her hanging in the livingroom.

I've got lots more copy stuff where that came from. Unfortunately, I don't have access to a copier where I can fuck up the pictures anywhichway I want. Can you see the staff at Kinko's? lol Maybe I should buy my own.

I know what you mean about the supplies. I'm a junkie for that stuff. I used to love going and just picking out like 3 or 4 paints or pencils or whatever and keeping my color scheme limited. For some reason, I became more creative within a limited framework. Of course, I eventually end up having to own everything, but it's nice to get new things and work with just those until you've exhausted their possibilities.

How long have you been working on your stuff?

It's been years since I've actively been producing anything new on a regular basis. Most of what I've done lately has been on the computer or CD art. I really want to get back to my roots.

but I haven't done anything recently smile

all I have are some color studies I've been doing with acrylics
for a series of acrylics on canvas I'm going to start in a few
months. and those are just large sheets of colors thrown onto a
heap lol.

I've made a few webcam pics but the cam doesn't even pick up on
the texture or the colors that well so it's nothing to look at.

about 35 of those smile they're just 50 x 50 cm cardboards which
I used to try out combinations of paint and the textures and
how well they mix etc since I've never done anything in acryl
before and had to test it first.

This first one reminds me of a closeup of waterdrops on a window. Really dimensional.

Acrylic's wonderful. It used to be my paint medium of choice until I became better at watercolor. I'm gonna go buy some today. thumbs up!
