Yes, not what I would consider one of my very favorites, but I liked it.

Also, Black House with Peter Straub.

I have that but i havent read it yet.

Is it any good?
Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

I've read it twice so far. Did you ever read the "other half" of Desperation, The Regulators? It has some of the same characters and sort of parallels the other book. I didn't like it as much as Desperation though, although there is a creepy as hell shake devil boy in it.

I never read it. I went through phases where I read Stephen King, but those days are over ever since the 7th Dark Tower book. neutral

Again: DO NOT reveal the ending to me!!!! shake I'm 3/4 of the way through, and I'm a slow reader, so you'll have to wait a while to bitch about it. lol

Yeah, it's not one of my favorites. One of my LEAST favorites from him in recent years is "Everything's Eventual". It's a short story collection. Sort of boring. bored

I LOVE the Bachman Books. "The Long Walk" makes that whole book worth it. nod Also, "Needless Things" is awesome. nod And "Salem's Lot" of course.

biggrin Sorry. Maybe you'll like it more though. nod I just kept waiting for the stories to get better, and they were just sort of blah for me. In fact, I can only really remember ONE of the stories off the top of my head now, and that's because the cover art is based on that one. lol

I have to pull it out now to see what the stories were....

TheFrog

I must be honest - after being an absolute addict for a few years, I stopped reading his books after Dolores Claiborne in the early 1990s.

Taking that into account, my favourite books of his (in order) are:

Salem's Lot
Carrie
The Stand

There are still some awesome books that came after that so you're missing out. nod

I didn't find "It" so hot... kind of cartoonish in a bad way actually. I like Carrie and The Shining. Misery was a cool read too.

The Shining.

Desperation/The Regulators were really cool too.
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

I haven't read the most highly acclaimed ones--the Stand, Salem's Lot, the Shining. Something to look forward to, I guess.

Everything's Eventual--My girlfriend didn't like it but I liked the way he could create atmosphere & characters in just a few pages.

Eyes of the Dragon--Stephen King usually cusses and sexes up a storm; it was nice to read something clean. Plus it kep me all the way through, unlike some of his novels.

Dark Tower--Just finished Wizard & Glass, which was my favorite, other than possibly Drawing of the Three. I've heard the rest isn't quite as good.

Christine--Though I read it as a kid. One of my favorite early ones.

Dolores Claiborne--Again, kept me going till the end.

Not so crazy about:
Firestarter
Gerald's Game

I agree with Minneapolisgenius that Everything's Eventual is B-O-R-I-N-G! I have the hardback and the audiobook. I almost fall asleep listening to that crap!

I also agree that Desperation is better than The Regulators. I love what he did with those books though. That was genius and I'm sure it was freeing (as a writer)for King to change characters around like that. Desperation was recently made into a movie(tv movie?) by Mick Garris who has directed other King works. I think it will be released next May or something.

I wasn't crazy about Dreamcatcher, but I LOVED the Duddits character! The movie was so-so, but they didn't have enough Duddits in it. I thought Donnie Wahlberg was a pretty good choice for that role.

Tim Curry was brilliant as Pennywise-so creepy! That book really should have been turned into a feature film though. I know it's way long but two movies would have been better than the mini-series. I also had problems with the casting. Harry Anderson? John Ritter? John-Boy?? And what's the name of that chick that played Beverly Marsh? She's on Smallville now. Anyway, the casting sucked in my not so humble opinion.

Everybody should go to www.Stephenking.com
