Look at those last posts. Neither of you want this animosity. You're both just stuck in this bad behavioral habit. You both feel unheard and are lashing out because you've been hurt. It's time to move on. You don't need this negative reinforcement. You both deserve better. lol

I concur Professor LleeLlee. This is a textbook case of repressed sexual and romantic desires. These two should immediately GET A ROOM and take pictures of the encounter to share with the org. pc geek

Salem's Lot
The Stand
Pet Sematary
It
Misery
Desperation

All great, but my absolute fave is The Shining. Possibly the creepiest book I've ever read.

The Shining is very scary. I haven't read it in ages, but I remember the last time I did, I was afraid to get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. lol I lost it since, and have yet to get a new copy. sigh

Oh and I remember there was a scene in Desperation that actually made my heart almost leap out of my chest. boxed I actually had to close the book, and was scared to open it and read further. lol

The one where the couple are driving down the road, and the cop is following them. He pulls them over, and starts speaking very mechanically about how he has to give them a ticket, they were speeding, he's going to kill them, blah, blah..... lol

It just really freaked me out because it just came out of nowhere, and I could really put myself in their place. I just seemed "real" to me.

Yeah, I hear you.

"Blah, blah, blah... I'm going to kill you... blah, blah, blah..."

It made me eek as well. It sounds like nothing at all on here, but in the context of the book, well, it just comes out of nowhere.

It does.

And then the couple are all wondering, "Did he really just say that? Did he just say he's going to kill us?" shake

I've read it twice so far. Did you ever read the "other half" of Desperation, The Regulators? It has some of the same characters and sort of parallels the other book. I didn't like it as much as Desperation though, although there is a creepy as hell shake devil boy in it.

I never read it. I went through phases where I read Stephen King, but those days are over ever since the 7th Dark Tower book. neutral

Stephen King stories are indeed best when devoid of aliens or evil spirits. His best probably Carrie, Misery and Dolores Claiborn, where humanity is the monster.

I agree on his short stories being best.

But my favest book by him isn't a novel. It's his book about writing. It is also half an autobiography and gives an insight in how he works and preceives his ideas, almost as interesting as any of his stories.

I really liked that too. I hadn't read Danse Macabre, his other book about writing, but that one is just excellent. As for my favorites..The Stand, definitely, I love the short stories, too, and Salem's Lot scared the crap outta me. And Eye of The Dragon, along with.....hell, I like em all.....including The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon.

Also, Black House with Peter Straub.
