Just had my wisdom teeth pulled!

That fuckin sucked! I am awaiting for my sweetie to bring me my VICODIN.

I am SOOOOO going for the IV next time. I did the gas... I had to ask if there was any flowin cuz I couldn't tell what so ever. So that ends that debate.

I was very lucky when it came to my wisdom teeth. They were coming in straight so the dentist decided to take them all out at once. The IV is DEFINATELY the way to go.

You're lucky to have someone there to help you. I was on my own. The surgery was a breeze...the recovery sucked. If I were to recommend one thing it would be to ALWAYS eat something when you take your pain meds.

That's what the dentist said. I still have two more in there...but no need to take them out. But at least I know for next time.

Yeah I wasn't sure which way to go...and they won't release you with out someone to take you home if you do the IV. Almost everyone said the gas will knock me out or I won't be aware. HA! I could have done my taxes. Seriously. I know what Nitrous should feel like a little bit biggrin and at one point I could smell it and I could feel tingles and then that all went away...and I was back to normal. I felt everything...it was the pulling of my mouth open and getting way back there that really sucked and the cracking of bone...UGH I'll stop cuz I am freaking out just thinking about it.

Next time it's ALL about doing it The Ramones Style... I wanna be sedated! headbang

i have to get mine out soon...the thing is, i have a mortal terror of IV's. regular shots are okay, but the idea of a needle staying in my arm/hand or wherever is fucking scary.

Yuck! comfort For your sake, I'm glad it's over with. One thing - just be sure not to drink anything through a straw. You'd be surprised how much it can hurt to do that after you've had teeth pulled. I was surprised, anyway.

omfg boxed hug Glad it's over for you, the experience sounded awful! I can sympathize, because I once had a tooth pulled where I was fully awake, and all's I had was Novacaine to deaden the area. Recently, I had to get another tooth pulled, and I went with the IV. It was much, much better, I didn't even know what was going on. The only drawback to having the IV was that I was out of it for a few hours after because of the meds they gave me. A couple of hours sleep took care of that. smile
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Here's what I had.....

Introduced as an analgesic in the 1930s, meperidine produces effects that are similar, but not identical, to morphine (shorter duration of action and reduced antitussive and antidiarrheal actions).

Yeah, my oral surgeon told me to take Advil too (must be what all dentists/oral surgeons tell people). I did get a prescription for Vicodin, but never filled it, I just stuck to the Advil for awhile. smile
