When they process it as credit, the store pays the service fee instead. It depends upon the debit card. Some are branded as a Visa or MasterCard, and those can be processed as credit or debit. Others (basically ATM cards) are debit-only. Also, I've noticed that at some stores, swiping a Visa/MasterCard debit card causes the terminal to process the sale as a debit transaction (which is cheaper for the merchant). Sometimes you can press a button to change it to a credit transaction, but it seems that usually you can't. I prefer credit (because it gets me frequent flier miles), but the merchant prefers debit (because they pay a lower transaction fee). They also make wheel locks, which are essentially the same thing, custom bolts than can only be removed with the attachment. I think they also make a lockable gas cap. You must not have grown up in the hood. I've had to prepay for gas since I started driving. It didn't matter 1 in the afternoon or 1 in the morning. Your ass was walking inside. | |
