I was watching "My Fair Brady" on VH1 and the Brady guy tells his girlfriend that he thinks she should move out so their relationship can be stronger and he feels that they would grow closer by not being around each other so much. He calls this "I need space" and she gets really upset. She feels like he is confused, he really doesn't want a relationship with her and that this is a waste of her time going along with "i need space" routine.

I can say that in my opinion with friends that i've talked to and such, the guy really believes that he is doing something by being honest enough to tell his girlfriend that he "needs space"...when in fact women feel that this is a bullshit line for just saying "i've found someone else, but i don't want to let you go completely just yet". And judging from experience, this is usually the case.

So guys, when you tell your woman that you "need space", is this really the case, or is this just a cowardly way of saying "i don't want to be with you anymore"?

Speak up.
