Well if it were addictive and I started, yes.

But let's be honest. Smoking is not as enjoyable as many things. It's not enjoyment really, only relief from cravings. I couldn't say a cigarette is more enjoyable than peanut butter on toast let alone roast lamb.

I quit for good about 6 months ago or so...sometimes I miss it, but not as much as I used to. I guess it's true when they say it takes a good 7 or so times quitting before it sticks.

I'm glad to read your post. I started a year ago and have given up several times, ranging from 4 days to 6 weeks. Right now I'm cutting back steadily, but still smoking. I hate this shit. sad

It got to the point where I just didn't like them anymore but continued to smoke anyway because of the addiction. I can't take drags or I'll go right back to it...that was the problem all the other times. I would sneak in drags here and there. This time I didn't give myself any option but to NOT smoke anymore. And to be honest, it hasn't been that hard. Don't give up!

I had planned to quite this summer, but it has yet to happen. sad
But I will be quitting sometime. I keep gearing myself up for it. I have to keep reminding myself of all the disgusting things about it and stop remembering all that I love about it. And there's a lot that I love.

I feel that is the key to success right there. You have to pretty much tell yourself you can NEVER smoke again. Don't trick yourself into thinking you can smoke just a little...cause you can't.

1994 Congressional Testimony

Congressman Wyden: "Let me ask you first, and I'd like to just go down the row, whether each of you believes that nicotine is not addictive. I've heard virtually all of you touch on it--yes or no, do you believe nicotine is not addictive?"

"I believe that nicotine is not addictive, yes". Philip Morris CEO (Chief Executive Officer) William I. Campbell

Congressman Wyden: "Mr. Johnston ..."

"Uh, Congressman, cigarettes and nicotine clearly do not meet the classic definition of addiction. There is no intoxication--" R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company CEO James Johnston

Congressman Wyden: We'll take that as a no. And again, time is short, if you can just, I think each of you believe nicotine is not addictive, I'd just like to have this for the record.

"I don't believe that nicotine or our products are addictive." U.S. Tobacco Company CEO Joseph Taddeo

"I believe that nicotine is not addictive." Lorillard Tobacco Company CEO Andrew Tisch

"I believe that nicotine is not addictive." Ligget Group CEO Edward Horrigan

"I believe that nicotine is not addictive." Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company CEO Thomas Sandefur

"And I too believe that nicotine is not addictive." American Tobacco Company CEO Donald Johnston

hmmm ...

anyhow, I plan on giving up soon.

Nope - never again. I smoked for 25 years and just quit 3 years ago. I'll never smoke anything again other than a fat Cuban on vacation and weed when I'm feeling in the mood.
