Are you cooking out of my kitchen? when i lived in NYC, i had a roommate who literally worked 24 hours a day - she was a bartender, an event planner, a florist and a dog walker. she taught me how to eat semi-kinda-decent meals on the fly, and i got some good tips (and bad habits) from her. the quesadillas are all her fault!

I haven't done the quesadillas in a while, but I've been keeping tortillas on hand and eating them w/just some cream cheese and throwing in whatever veggies I may have around. Dip it in some spicy peanut sauce if you've got it around for a treat and it's sooooo yummy. And pasta (along w/rice) is the staple of my diet. In the summer it's pasta salads, in the winter it's w/various sauces. |

Nice! Is that really that cheap though? I'm talking super cheap, living like a student, have to steal your housemate's salt kinda cheap. OH yeah, this is very "cost-effective". the most "expensive" ingredient is the peppers. I'll see you tonight..

I guess the Thai thing is a packet or two of MaMa or WaiWai noodles. Two is enough for a full meal. They do all manner of different flavours and cost about 4 baht a packet, so 2 together with the oil, spices and powder mixed in make a tasty meal for the equivalent of 20 cents!
Moo nam tok You can get them in the pot for 25 cents if you're lazy.

1. scrambled eggs (about 20 cents for two)
2. proscuitto, tomato, & mozzerella or goat cheese on scandanavian wheat toast ,preferably onion flavored... (about 20 cents per crisp) 3. homemade dal (30 cents for a 2 bowl serving) 4. spicy roast chicken (about 50 cents to cook 2 leg quarters) 5. caprese salad with extra virgin olive oil ( 1.00...mozzerella is HELLA cheap in germany, with one ball water packed in the cheapest markets costing 49-55 CENTS!) 6. chicken noodle soup with fresh ginger (about 2.50 to make a BIG pot in the winter) 7. my mom's alabama mustard greens cooked with a a BIG OLE hunk of bacon or fatback, and served with louisianna hot sauce (2.50 for a gigantic pot that takes me three days to eat) 8.spagetti bolognese (what we americans know as regular spagetti with meat sauce...(about 1.50 for a medium pot serving) 9. thai style yellow curry and brown rice (3.50 or less depending on what meat, fish, or veggies and brand of coconut milk i use..) 10. and my "trend meal" at the moment, brown rice sprinkled with soy sauce, super hot chinese chilies and japanese seaweed based condiment called 'Maguri Furikake' (about 60 cents)...about 6 months ago my 'trend meal' was mediterranean seafood salad: a pre-frozen mix of shrimp, mussels, calamari and crab that runs for 4 bucks at german walmart, and after defrosting i would toss it with garlic oil and balsamic vinegar and throw it over rucola greens and tomato, about 4 bucks per serving i think....

NoodleSoup said: Christopher said: thats cool .....you could build a mansion there then for cheap lol. My brother in law is looking for a new place to rent. Today he was checking out a brand new house, 4 bedrooms, available for $160 a month. They were selling nice new 2 bedroom houses near to us for $45,000 and I was tempted to put one in the wife's name and just go for it, but thought better of it. This area is already getting more expensive due to its handy location as far as leaving Bangkok for nearby major towns. I should buy one to sell again in 10 years. Where my brother in law is currently renting, just outside Bangkok in a place called Tem Rak (full of love), his admittedly small 2 bedroom house would cost only $22,000 to buy. i can see why people want to retire or vacation in such places... and wait until you afford to build your own paisley park.
