Witch Hazel is good. nod I used that a few times a few years back and it definitely helps. Just have to be careful with all products to be sensible and not overdo it. I've used Dettol in the past before, but that stuff is strong and needs to be mixed with A LOT of water. Not best for the face I'd say.

Nope. It's not loofah. I'd remember that. I got some of those for my tub experiences. smile

Excellent question geek my dad always said don't rub your eyes after picking your nose, so I'd guess you'd have to do them both.

A few things:

  • Make sure you're washing day AND NIGHT; use a LIGHT moisturizer @ night...

  • Toner WORKS - I use it faithfully, always have. Witch Hazel is super cheap (about $2 - $3 for a big bottle) & a good place to start if you don't already have a toner you like. Put some on a cotton ball/pad, wipe your face after you wash. When you graduate from that, try to get something without a lot of alchohol or fragrance/color...

  • This won't help if you're broke right now but ProActive really does work exclaim I'd never had acne as a teen but over the past 2 years my face started buggin' out. I finally broke down & paid for that expensive shit & it totally turned my face around, haven't had a blemish in months. It's worth the $...

  • Drink as much water as you can...

Hope it gets better hug
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

Try some Tea Tree oil. If you've got sensitive skin dilute it first and then dab it on. It's a natural antispetic and very good. Dont apply it directly though if you are sensitive.

Sweetie, such is life. I have bad skin. People make fun of me. I do not care. If they are that concerned about the outside as opposed to the inside, once again, fuck them. It will pass. You will grow out of it. You have a man who adores you and friends and family that love you and that's all that matters.

Aww, SammiJ, I feel for you- I have been there, wait, I am still there...hug

I have struggled with my skin for 19 yrs now mad

I usually see results when I am on the pill too but due to other health issues, I cannot use the pill. (Does not stop me from trying from time to time). I am currently off of the pill and my skin went crazy as soon as I stopped.
My skin issues were so bad that I tried Accutane 15 yrs ago. It helped for a while but it has been so long that it is chronic again.
I was desprite a while back and bought a product at Walmart called AcneFree. It is a cheaper version of Proactiv. It helped some in the beginning. I was going to a wedding and I needed something quick. I also use Tea Tree oil for many things including my acne. Also, Colloidal Silver applied topically has helped.

As far as make up goes, I was using Dermablend products for a long time. It is expensive but it was designed to cover scars. Recently I went to JCPenny's to buy more and they changed the shades. I went to Dillards to see if they had any other shades and the lady at the counter told me to try a product called CoverBlend. It is a concealing Treatment makeup with SPF 20. It has acne meds in it to help prevent & treat the acne while you have the make up on. I like it so far.

I know first hand how much acne and scars can effect your self esteem and your mood.
You are a beautiful person, inside & out. I think it is a good idea to stay away from the magazines, it can be depressing to see all of the perfect skinned girls on there. Just remember, they have make up artists working on them and airbrushes and editing done before we see the finished product.

Take care-

hug

i have dermablend @ home, but i can't tolerate it for more than an hour...
i think i'll stay away from makeup...which i know, superficially speaking, will not be beneficial to my social life...but the make up will only make things worse... but i will do my eye makeup more regularily now...maybe it'll take away from the pizza face shrug

and i'll now add tea tree oil to my list along with witch hazel...
wish me luck guys...

The CoverBlend makeup is not as thick as the Dermablend. It also has active acne treatment in it. You are best to keep the makeup off, I am sure. I have too many scars to cover..

I know someone with exactly the same problem. They took Dianette (sp?) sor ages to prevent acne and then had to come of it because it was giving her headaches. I know there is another treatment you can get but its quite toxic, you can drink at all with it or else you mess up your liver. I'm not sure if its an anitbiotic (definitely not neosporin anyways) - I'll try to find out for you and tell you.

I've never had much of a problem with my skin (fortunately) but we can all have ugly days at some point and you can't pick yourself of the floor. I hope it passes you by quickly. I'll be in touch if I find out what the medication is.

if I were you Sammi...I wouldn't do anything but let your body deal with the change in hormones. The acne will go away. Don't over cleanse your skin because that will also make the situation work. Stay with your regular routine and i'm sure your skin will clear up.

I think that there's a wealth info on this thread....just find something that works with your skin. I really think its just a change in your hormones and your skin will adjust.

Exactly. As soon as the hormone levels are stable again the acne should disappear.
