live from the houston evacuation...

I'm going to austin at midnight, there's 13mph traffic on the freeways right now. People are crazy... my cell phone is useless, I get a busy signal even when I try to check messages.

Here comes a big hurricane....

My poor pimp bachelor pad condo.... I hope it's dry when I come back.

I feel for all those who are in Houston. Two days ago the storm was heading stragiht for me. Now, it looks like I will miss the storm. Two months ago I was fortunate and saw Emily go south of here. That storm also was a Category 5 but weakened to a 3 when it made land fall. The Gulf is so warm that it is strengthening the storm. The Gulf here in the South Padre Island area is at 89 degrees. That's a lot of energy to feed the hurricane.

he and his dad have commercial property to care for. i have decided to leave and go either with his family or mine out of the city. i told him i was really scared and i would have a nervous breakdown if i stayed. i am that petrified. he said it was ok but to keep him informed.

Well, after 11 hours (no food or drink) in my car alone trying to get to austin (mainly to escape electrical outage to work on a video project due overseas on tuesday) I didn't even make it to the outer edge of Houston. I gave up and went over to the sw side to go to my parents' house...

can you get a bus or train or flight out?i heard on the news on cnn europe that flights are stopping at noon today... having been a person that lived through a catagory 3 hurricane in Miami (Andrew- 1993) it's no joke...i can't even remotely imagine the suffering that comes along with a cat-4...

i don't even know you, but i'm worried as hell about those of you who will remain behind to face this thing...

look baby girl, i know they said for better or for worse when you took those vows, but you need to get the hell out of dodge and let the menfolk fend for the property, at the very least so that one of you has access to working, reliable resources when the s**t hits the fan
sad

thanks for thinking of us... I'm not in an evacuation zone of houston, so I'll stick with my parents and try to sit it out. I think the hurricane has twisted a bit northeast to push it's slightly less harsh side onto houston, I don't know what to expect tomorrow night... I just hope that the winds don't hit hard. It's so weird to wish this thing to move away, because basically it's like wishing it to on someone else... poor Beaumont, TX.

the hurricane barely touched houston... the main hardships/tragedies in Houston resulted from the aforementioned evacuation.
