that bit about japan being low in crime isn't exactly accurate - a LOT of sexual assaults go unreported there. in fact the japanese tend not to publicize their personal, violent encounters because of a shame-based culture.
they drink alcohol like no one else on the planet and turn their angst inward - instead of out through violent actions - by committing suicide. check out the suicide rate in japan. | |
