Old movies

Who here likes old movies? You know, challenging films like Casablanca, Citizen Kane, The Maltese Falcon, North By Northwest, The Great Dictator, The Wizard Of Oz...movies like these.

Who here will admit that they cannot stand these old movies? In that you have to really defend your stand, because these films and others are classics.
All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

I liked it but I don't think I saw the restored version. I had a hard time finding old movies where i live.

Yes - ANYTHING with Humphrey Bogart is great! I am also a BIG Jimmy Stewart fan - and Spencer Tracy and Clark Gable and Laurence Olivier and Greer Garson and Vivian Leigh and Irene Dunne and Cary Grant and Errol "Captain Blood" Flynn....

Some of my all-time favorites are Marilyn Monroe movies, especially Some Like it Hot, The Seven Year Itch, and Niagara. Another that's at the top of my list is Gone With the Wind, although I saw it after I read the book and was a little disappointed.

On the Waterfront, Bringing up Baby, and the original Sabrina are also really great.

While it's not as old as some of the movies you listed, Rosemary's Baby is an incredible flick. Overall, it's an interesting story, and the acting is pretty good. But what really grabs me about it is how beautifully filmed it is. Each frame is like a perfect composition. There's an incredible shot towards the end of the film where the wife starts to question her husband, and he is standing there half in light, and half in deep black shadow, with a sharp line cut right down the middle of him, explaining himself to her - incredible.

I prefer "classic" films to modern ones. they just seem more real. You care about the characters.

It's a wonderful life
Casablanca

Great acting.

Great choices!! The Apartment, The Graduate and Rosemary's Baby are three of my all time favorite movies. Especially The Apartment. You just can't go wrong with a Billy Wilder film. thumbs up!
