The Fag Hag thread First of all, let that be the only time that disgusting stupid term is used in this thread That term is meant to demean both parties and it should never be used again
This is the thread for all the girls who accepted and befriended us gay boys and girls. I prefer to simply call you friend Without you, so many of us would have been in complete despair. I'm thankful for the girls who befriended me when I needed friends the most. Thanks gals! 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Thanks to all my straight girlfriends, I love them all, and will give up my seed for them.
I would like to also thank all my straight boy-friends that have no issue whatsoever in having me as a friend. I almost forgot, I'd like to thank Supa also.....and the Academy. I'm getting verklempt. a friends a friend. If they're not gonna treat us any differently because of our sexuality, why treat them any differently as well?
I never really considered "fag hag" a term of endearment for friends of mine who are straight. I usually only used the phrase to describe the ones who were clingy and getting on my nerves.

i always thought that the term fag hag was used for girls who "collected" gay men rather than had them as friends. You know, the kind love to brag about all the gay men who are their friends. Instead of having a friend who happens to be gay, they have "gay friends".
I was having dinner with someone the other night who was telling me about how all of her friends are gay men and how she just attracts gay men. It was just strange to me. So you have friends. great. do they really want you telling complete strangers about how they're all gay? In anycase. it is an ugly term, no matter how it's used.

Though I see and understand the objections to the term, I also don't see it as really a big deal. I don't, but a lot of my friends use the phrase in a light-hearted manner.
Fruit fly is a cute one though, and it works for any queer-friendly straight buddies. So a great big thank you goes out to all the "fruit flies" of the world. Without your love and support, I don't know where many of us would be now. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

I don't usually use the term fag hag, but one of my (gay) friends calls me his fag hag and it doesn't really bother me. Actually, he calls me his "upgrade" since he ditched a friend who he now just refers to as a hag (b/c of her personality, not looks). I'm going to suggest fruit fly to him, its a lot cuter.

I can see how that would be a weird topic of conversation, but at the same time, it's the story of my life, sister. Well, not the story of my life. There was a time I had mostly straight female friends, a time I had mostly striaght male friends, then for the last, oh, 8 years or so I fell into a pack of mainly gay men and straight women with the odd straight boyfriends, and a few straight male hangers-on. And boy can our group get bitchy! But seriously, I don't know how I fell into it, mainly just common interests. But here I am. And I love my friends. |

to me they are just people... period Me too. People are just people,as long as they try to be honest and true to themselves they're OK by me. Some of the gay people I have gotten to know here are very special people. "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind"-Dr Seuss
