I LOST IT ALL. ALL OF IT

sigh

Though I'm sure this will just spawn a bunch of smartass jacking, I need to express my frustration right now.

I just got finished with 3 hours of reformatting, reinstalling, and reconfiguring Windows XP (on a goddamned Friday night. mad).

What adds insult to injury is that my accidentally swiped my data drive. mad

100% of my files to include:

1) My entire Prince collection
2) My entire Music collection
3) All my personal data stored over the years
4) All my pictures (yes, ALL of them)
5) All my precious emoticons :cry2:
6) All my software install files :cry2:
7) My email / contacts book (this is potentially salvageable when I get my PDA back from Columbus (long story) as I can synch that to my MS Outlook.
8) MY GODDAMNED SCHOOL WORK from both my BS, and MBA mad
The list goes on and on
What I'm basically trying to say is that I'm totally fucked.

fucked.

I'm trying to look at this as a new beginning. cry :cry2: pout

aw, that sucks. i remember a while ago my brother formatted
one of our computers and he swiped ALL my poetry from about
5 years. i was maaaaad, but couldn't retrieve it..

anyway, do you still have hard copies of the official Prince
releases? if not, i'm willing to burn you a dvd of all the
original albums and singles and send it to you.

cuz that would really suck, if you didn't have hard copies
of that stuff.

Wow, that's really horrible. Just twenty years ago it would have taken a great big fire to wipe out a person's collected work, but these days a press of a button can do it. neutral

I always keep back-ups of all my important files. Every now and then I burn them to DVDs, some of them are on my external hard drive and some of them I've e-mailed to my Hotmail-account. It still doesn't give me peace of mind though. What if a sleeper virus has already infected all of it? At least I can print out my most precious files: the scripts and stories that I've written.

Can't you at least get your school work back from the university? They must keep them somewhere in a file cabinet or on a computer, right?

Sorry to hear about this, man... I can only imagine how it must feel.

YOU KNOW SOMETHING??

I'm actually in a good mood this morning. I'm going to look at this as 2 things:

1) Karma I needed to pay back
2) Opportunityt to start over, learn a lesson, and come out better for it.

Plus the weather is beautiful today. Think I'll go to the beach today. biggrin
