INTERVIEW YOURSELF!

come on, you know you want to! at least half of y'all are crazy enough to do it!

have you ever wanted to ask yourself.. “the tough questions” about you, your life or some experience in your life??
have you ever wondered how you would do in an interview.. that was done by you (or some part of your personality)??

in the tradition of the classic “The Playboy Interview” series &/or those found in “Interview” magazine, here’s your chance to be your toughest critic. a chance to share something about yourself, something many/most don’t know about you. you can keep it funny, you can make it deep, you can do both or you can do neither..

just ask yourself - & answer – some questions.. in the form of an “interview”. any topics you want. include a recent photo or 2 if you want.

in the end, you might even learn something about yourself..

there ought to be at least 5 good "interviews" after mine in this thread..

here's mine :

IN THE BACKGROUND of this room in this split-level home located in “suburban Maryland”, the guitar break of the Steely Dan classic “Green Earrings” cascades from some unknown source. this lower level “rec room” does not appear outrightly dirty or unkept, but it’s also hard to tell when this area was last properly cleaned. sitting somewhat uncomfortably at his desk, his eyes wander around the room. watching him do this, you get the impression that his mind is indeed somewhere else & that maybe he’d prefer to be somewhere else.

you get the sense that this is how life is for JaChri, this self-described “unconventional”, oft misunderstood Aquarian. having lived in 3 different places on 2 continents in the last 4 years has had some type of effect on him, but it’s difficult to say exactly what. like his present nomadic existence, there are many facets to his persona : there is the rather conservative hardliner; there is the neophite businessman; there is the wide-eyed optimist, there is the quirky recluse, there is the reassuring, positive-reinforcing friend. there are other facets that he apparently does not want to reveal..

will the real JaChri please stand up?

he is dressed very casually : white drawstring pants with gray stripes & a long, loose-fitting black tank top. 8 days ago he was still in southern Italia living la dolce vita, his eyes often full of the stunningly beautiful women there, his stomach nearly always full with that exquisite cucina italiana : those pizzas, that pasta, the prosciutto, the gelati..
mamma mia.
it’s a style of life to which 1 could easily become very accustomed. a style of life in which our subject could find himself sometime in the near future.

in his 1st ever “in-depth” interview on the org, JaChri (“mltijchr”) gives some insight to his “so-called crazy life”, talks about what motivates him & reveals when - & why – he stopped wearing underwear.

mltijchr – hey JaChri, thanks for taking some time out of your busy schedule to have this little chat

JaChri : hm, not a problem.

mltijchr – you seem a little sluggish.. still feeling the “jetlag” from your most recent overseas jaunt??

JaChri : normally, the jetlag DOES kick my ass – WELL – in both directions. you’d think this wouldn’t be the case, as many times as I’ve done that flight. when I got back last Thursday, however, I was back on “east coast time” within 48 [hours]. it was nice – nice to NOT be dead tired at 6pm.

mltijchr - what was it like in southern Italy??

JaChri : AMAZING. I thought I had died & gone to heaven. I spent most of this last trip in a nice, spacious villa, in a small summer resort town – Castellaneta Marina, about 30 minutes from Taranto, which is inside “the heel” of the “boot” that is Italia. the weather was hotter than I thought it would be, but then it would get almost chilly at night.

TAKING IN some of the exquisite beauty in southern Italia..

mltijchr – what about the Italians themselves?

JaChri : (smiling) oh man, they are something else..! they can be SO animated! you know, with the hand gestures, with their accentuated language. most that I came across were quite animated. this is what fascinates me about Italians in general – it’s like “living” in a movie with all these characters! they love to talk, they love good food.. I ate SO MUCH food when I was there..
Italia is like CRACK COCAINE to me – I’m “addicted”.. I always want another hit..

(laughs)

mltijchr – how are things with your business?

JaChri : hm, chugging along slowly but surely. we had an intern this summer – Jérôme, who lives near Paris. he was like a shark! every time I gave him something to do, he simply attacked it - TOTALLY. he actually made more work for me because I had to keep finding things for him to do! many of his ideas & much of his work will be incorporated into the business; this is what I’m doing now.

I knew this going in, that having a business would be A LOT of work, & it’s certainly proven to be that.. but
I do believe though that 1 day all of this work is going to pay off..

mltijchr – what’s your best attribute?

JaChri : I’m well hung. (laughs) NO PLEASE DON’T PRINT THAT! hm, tough question.. I suppose.. I am in general a rather even-tempered person. I do my best to not ever get too low or too high. that said, I am an emotional person.. but of course people who don’t know me well don’t see that.

mltijchr – why is that?

JaChri : well, it is easier for me to keep to myself, it’s easier for me to sit back & listen to others & let them talk. this way, I can learn more about them & see if I can relate to something about them & if they’re worth getting to know better. plus, I’m good at listening..

mltijchr – so would you say that in general, people.. misperceive who you are?

JaChri : yeah, definitely.. but I don’t worry about that because I can’t control how others perceive me. if someone sees something interesting in me & they make the effort to know me better as a person, they would probably dig what they saw.

mltijchr – I hear you’re a fan of prince.org..

JaChri : yeah, that’s usually a cool place to go, there are many “characters” there, some really funny people, & I have met & gotten to know some very nice & interesting people there. I like the org because several of the people there have very good taste in music, & they have some very intelligent thoughts & opinions about music.. this is why I think I prefer the “music: non-prince” boards. people there like vainandy, hotlegs, blackguitaristz, paligap, theAudience, stymie, anxiety, pfunkjazz & many others whose names escape me right now.. they consistently give good opinions &/or have good knowledge about different types of music & I learn something there. then, many times I’ll see something (news) on the .org before I see it on Yahoo! or washingtonpost.com! “general discussion” is often very crazy, some crazy-ass, often stupid threads there.. I don’t know how the mods don’t go crazy..
many cool (& funny) people in that section.. but I’m not going to “drop names” there
(smiles)
Hi Kelley!
so yeah, I dig the org, but recently I don’t have time to check it out like I want to.

mltijchr – now what’s this I hear about you not wearing underwear?

JaChri : hm, that 1 got out, huh?? ah well.. what can I say.. it’s not a big deal, I’m simply more comfortable that way. been doing that for years, about a dozen years now. the only time I really wear “something” – briefs – is when I’m playing football or basketball. THEN.. I like to keep everything “under control”..
(grins)

mltijchr – what motivates you in life?

JaChri : hm.. in general, I would say my potential motivates me.

mltijchr – what’s the hardest thing about love?

JaChri : trust. as in trusting yourself, as in trusting the other person, as in trusting yourself to trust the other person..

mltijchr – that’s deep.

JaChri : you don’t know the half of it! in fact, I’ll save the other half for my next interview.. (laughs)

mltijchr – where do you see yourself in 5 years?

JaChri : in a perfect world.. within the next 5 years I’d be happily married to a woman as beautiful on the outside as she’d be on the inside, I’d be living somewhere in Italia & we’d have 1 baby, maybe 2.. & I'd be sitting down.. to eat a pizza..

mltijchr – are you with someone now?

JaChri : I’m sorry?

mltijchr – (sighs) are you in a relationship right now?

JaChri : hm, you tell me – do I behave like someone who’s in a relationship???

mltijchr – what the--? just answer the question!

JaChri : I just did!

mltijchr – no you didn’t.

JaChri : ah, ah, ah! you forget, I’ve lived in Washington for 16 of the last 18 years, so I can talk like “they” talk here.. whenever I want! I know how to “answer a question without answering the question”.. also like prince used to do, if I remember well..

mltijchr – whatever. any last thoughts?

JaChri : did you ever have the sensation.. that you KNEW that your life was about to really change..? I mean, you could really sense that something “big” was going to happen..??

mltijchr – hm, maybe. well not recently, anyway.

JaChri : well.. I am sensing just that. the only thing is, I’m not quite sure what this “big thing” will be..
I’ll let you know.. the next time we talk like this..
I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..

lol that is absolutely great! Only you... you have a way of really writing with visual expression (both from the reader and the way you use wording, capitalization etc...) and a powerful sense of energy, also gained from the reader and the words that are read. I absolutely love it!

lol

highfive !!!

My mind is too sleepy to attempt something like this (well it is now)... however, it would totally be something I might tackle after a good nights rest.

~Smile.

Great, simply just great!

next up on our tour of interviews is the NAKED PIANO PLAYER... although she is quick to let us know her life is not nearly as exciting as JaChri's lol

when we find her, she is fast at work amongst a thousand beads, apparently getting ready for her first ever public appearance with her new passion. we find it interesting to look over the boxes and boxes of beads she has collected - all sorted by color, price, and "feel".... each bead speaks to her in a different way. when we asked her how she got into this she answered, "ya know, im not really sure.. it definately started small, like with one piece, and before i knew it, i was totally consumed. i love it ! its a great way to express myself and my mood. there are darker pieces i made on days i felt as if i was having a darker day, and brighter pieces i made when i was feeling such happiness smile. my babies have really gotten involved in this process, sometimes they sit with me and ask me about all the different gems, where they come from, what their meanings are, and we talk about our favorites."

she gets up and gives us a tour of her home.... she tells us, "its nothing special, but its our place to get away from the world. i try to make it comfortable to come home to." we notice that there are candles lit, different decorative mirrors all over the walls, pictures of her children - family - and friends displayed in many areas. its easy to see that this is a home that welcomes you in, and wants you to feel comfortable.

she offers us something to drink... and we sit down to talk....

interviewer: NOW, TELL ME NPP, WE ALL WANT TO KNOW HOW YOU GOT THAT NAME.....

npp: lol yeah... that was an interesting choice. i have had men try to invision me naked creating beautiful works of art on my piano sigh i guess its time to let them know that not me, i dont even play the piano. it actually came from a piece of artwork that my brother and his wife have hanging on the wall.... its a beautiful painting of a man, behind a piano, in a field of flowers - you can see hes lost in his work.... and there are angels floating above him. i asked my brother one day, so, tell me about this naked piano player you have hangin here - i guess i liked the sound of that.

interviewer: I SEE, NOT QUITE LIKE WE HAD IMAGINED HUH ?

npp: no sir, in fact, thats much of what my life is.... you think you understand who i am, but when you get to know me you find that i am nothing like you really expected. thats our gift really, letting people "into your world" thats the closest you can get to someone - emotionally and spiritually. i try to be as good as i can to those that have been let into my space.

interviewer: INTERESTING, NOW, WE HAVE TO ASK, WHATS THE DEAL WITH THE MIRRORS ALL OVER THE WALLS ??

npp: well, lets see... each of these mirrors was either a gift, or something i have collected from someplace i've been. for one, they reflect light.... but, deeper than that, they reflect your soul. on days that you are giving off a great energy, that will be all over the house.... on days your not so happy, well, then they are not as nice lol

interviewer: THERE ARE PHOTOS OF THESE TWO CHILDREN .... ARE THEY YOURS ?

npp: yes those are my babies. anyone who knows me knows that they are my brightest part of my world. i keep adding to the pictures, though it has been said perhaps i should retire some of the older ones to make room, i just cant seem to 'let go' of the sweet little babies i had back then. that being said, i do totally enjoy the people my kids are growing into, we have a very close bond. being a single mother is difficult sometimes, but so rewarding... i get every aspect of them all to myself. i have not missed any "firsts" in their life, that makes all my work worth it in the end.

interviewer: YOU DO SEEM VERY HAPPY WITH THEM, BUT DO YOU EVER SEE YOURSELF IN LOVE AND IN A RELATIONSHIP ?

npp: sigh who knows what the future holds for me... i mean, sure, i would love to have that in my life - and im sure that i will... just right now in life, i am very focused on what i am doing. the man that comes along will have to be a very special man, someone that can appreciate and love me - but love my babies the same. thats not something that you can find in just any man, TRUST ME lol hes out there... i will find him when the time is right.

interviewer: WHAT IS THE HARDEST THING YOU ARE DEALING WITH CURRENTLY ?

npp: actually, its what we just talked about. i have been with my babies living alone now for nearly 8 years eek wow, time does fly... i feel like i am always giving of myself, always there to support, love and nurture..... there are days i wish someone would be there to offer support for me.... a shoulder to cry on if i need it or a hug just to let me know they care, but hey, i've become very strong in these years... i must be doing something right... like i said, it will happen when its supposed to happen.

interviewer: WE CANT HELP BUT TO NOTICE THE TEARS IN YOUR EYES, IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO SAY ABOUT THAT ?

npp: not really... its all good.

interviewer: YOU SEEM TO BE A VERY PASSIONATE PERSON

npp: yes i am. when i feel for someone or something, or even the ideas i have.... i am very passionate.

interviewer: WELL, WE GOT YOUR NAME FROM JACHRI, AT THE ORG.... IS THERE ANYTHING YOU WOULD LIKE TO SAY ABOUT THE TIME YOU HAVE SPENT THERE ?

npp: well, first, i need to say hello to him, he is a fantastic guy !!! and, similar to what he said, there are lots of great people there. i have enjoyed getting to know them... we have a good time. sure, there is some crazy ones lol but, for the most part, they are all great people brought together by one artist... however, one thing i can say about prince fans, they are all so different ! each one is different than the next - with so much to offer. i have made some great friends being a part of that community, those who are special to me know they are.
as far as the world events go... i have been in and around the org during some of the most difficult times, times i felt alone and scared and needed someone to lean on... they were there.

interviewer: SOUNDS LIKE A GREAT PLACE.... SHOULD I COME VISIT ?

npp: lol well sure !!! we welcome the chance to bring anyone into our family there... just be careful, its addictive wink

interviewer: OK, GREAT... JUST A FEW MORE QUESTIONS

USE FIVE WORDS TO DESCRIBE YOURSELF

npp: that would be, happy, content, peaceful, honest, and true....

interviewer: WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE TO VISIT ?

npp: well, here in the states, i would love to go on a rock adventure.... i want to be the one out there digging up the treasures that i have come to love. outside the US... i have a place in mind.

interviewer: WHATS THE SMILE ABOUT ??? SHOULD WE KNOW SOMETHING ???

npp: nope, not yet.

interviewer: WHATS YOUR BEST ATTRIBUTE ?

npp: i get along well with well hung men lol just joking...

i would say that i am extremely aware of those around me and their feelings.... i try my very best to make a difference .... even in the smallest of ways.... my heart is huge, and i have a lot of love to offer.

interviewer: WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN FIVE YEARS ?

npp: im hoping its someplace very similar to where i am now... with my babies, happy and healthy... but, maybe, just maybe with a man that i am incredibly in love with and able to share each other and our dreams together.

interviewer: THANK YOU FOR SPENDING THIS TIME WITH US....

npp: thank you for comming, and do come again.

Before we start anywhere Julie Ann Christine... my... I must say you are looking quite comfortable and that new rug you have there, wow the colors throughout brings your environment so alive! Tell me a bit about that rug it certaintly brings a new element to your place...

Julie: Well... the rug, it may sound trivial... however to me, it's not. ~Smile. Let's just say... this past week has brought some powerful revelations. I don't want to go into too many details, for I am one that can truly get carried away with a moment. I will say... I started tutoring within my current job in the Pediactric Unit (aside from my usual responsibilities), both during my worktime and volunteer hours as well. I was exhausted last week, I was thankful for Thursday to come which is my Friday, per say... I was ready for a couple of days of rest. Nonetheless, I realized how fulfilled (even if exhausted) I felt after a tutoring session with an 8th grade student whom has been a patient for over three weeks now. I recall having tons of things to do after work and trying to fit it all in a days work... would simply not work. I ended up going to Target for some neccesities... odds and ends... and a new shower liner was on my list. I browsed and at the end of the shower curtain isle there was this rug. Now let me say... it has been some serious time since "the simplicities of life" just excited me to no ends. ~Smile. I get those moments and people just rolleyes their eyes... I don't care (I'm being positive here), I just am amused by the silliest things in a real kind of way.

When I arrived home... I placed the rug onto my living room floor... it has been a milestone for me. ~Smile. I say this... for I have focused on cream and white colors for so long. I feel this rug displays a strong statement to be alive... let live the moments that make you smile. Sit and feel the energy, watch the sun come into view in the morning... let all things you see come alive and feel it while living it. I lost a big part of that realization the past few years... only receiving temporary glimpses of my potential overall being. I have worked through some moments (many in which I allowed to exist, both positive and negative on my part). Although I have reached that long awaited division of uncertainty and doubt. I have only been reconfirmed of my love to teach and this is only the beginning of something I have strong convictions toward. I will be researching, touring other hospitals and taking direct part in bringing educational services to children while they are in the hospital. A very endearing effort and I know our future will benefit long after my soul passes from this life to another.

My soul is grounded in the right place, I must live in truth and confidence. We are not entitles to agree with everthing in this world, although we are entitled to live true to our own moral standards, life is a constant lesson to be grow from. I must believe I will only prevail from this moment on and excel with new experiences... opportunities await, I feel as complete as one can once again.

I love my rug ~Smile... and the significance this rug has (to me), at this time in my life.

Kelley..

your interview was in fact an improvement on MINE.
I think mine was alright, but somehow, yours has more "depth"
(maybe "depth" is not the best word, but it's close to what I'm trying to say..)

I was CERTAIN that you would do a good interview of yourself,
& your interview confirmed everything that I like & appreciate about you:

your passion for life
your passion for your children
your sly sense of humor!
your overall positive attitude

it's no wonder so many people dig you here on the org.

maybe you saw (like I did) how "interviewing yourself" can give you a sort of "snapshot" of this moment of your life..

your interview was GREAT!
I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..

Julie,

I liked your "interview" as well.
I like how you took a seeminingly "ordinary event" like buying a rug at Target & you.. expanded it into a personal insight into you, into your mentality, into your approach to life!

that IS a beautiful rug by the way, I think it suits you well in many ways. it's like, there are many colors/levels/layers to that rug & then with you there are many colors/levels/layers.

THIS is the idea I had with doing these self interviews..
because I believe that every person in them has some things that they want to say about themselves, but there isn't always a way to do it. someone may be "obsessive" about folding their socks precisely in a certain way.. but WHO is going to start a thread about "how do you fold your socks?"
(wait, here on the org, I know several are capable of starting such a thread..)
now to you or I, folding socks so precisely may not be a big thing, but to that person for whom it is a big thing, they could bring that up in their interview!

in any event - WELL DONE on your interview, Julie. as well, your interview underlined certain very nice qualities that you have as a person!

for some strange reason.. I now have the urge to go shopping at Target..
hmmm

then as for you, Nancy..

THANKS for the compliment
(he said, still BLUSHING PROFUSELY)
& I'm glad you liked the interviews!

I acknowledge that YOU think your life is "boring",
but I am VERY CERTAIN that there are things about you that others (including me) would find interesting..!
I read many of your threads all over the org, & to me it's like you show little "bits & pieces" of yourself..
why you do this, I do not know
but I am sure that there is more to you
than what most of us see here on the org.
OF COURSE, it's your decision to show as much or as little of yourself as you want..
again, this is the value I see in someone interviewing themselves - they have an opportunity to shed some light on themselves in a way that is not so..
"contrived"
(again, I say "contrived" for lack of a better word..)

well obviously Nancy it's YOUR CHOICE to do a self interview or not,
but I think you too would do a good 1, if you wanted to do 1..

in fact, I think I may be "fighting myself" to not do a 2nd "interview..

oops, I think I said too much right there!
lol
I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..

Cow

Interesting concept, biped. Let me try.

Cow Interviewer: So, Cow, how are you?

Cow: Well, you know it's been a weird few months. With the whole cow revolution and then the whole death of the Oracle. And finding out the Oracle was my mom, that was kinda messed up. But now, I'm fine.

Cow Interviewer: It is my understanding that you have been spending some time in Mexico, unwinding.

Cow: Yes, I've been getting some perspective on things. Hangin out with friends, sowing some oats, eating some oats, you know.

Cow Interviewer: Some would say you are in denial, hiding away from your ascension to the head of the cows.

Cow: Some would also say that you should butt the hell out. I wouldn't say that but some might.

Cow Interviewer: Do you think you are just hiding from responsibility, whiling away in Cancun while cows are slaughtered. Do you feel like you have let your entire species down?

Cow: Who called this interview anyway? These questions are awful touchy.

Cow Interviewer: Okay, I'm sorry. Let me broach another subject. Is it true that you are not a cow at all? That you are an alter ego of someone on the Org and that you have been writing as a cow because you have some strange cow obsession.

Cow: (Storming off the set) This interview is over. I'm out of here.

I didn't like this at all.
