sexual harassment--double standard?

there are about 6 different females on my job who IMO cross the line of what men could get reprimanded and/or fired from their employers for sexual harassment. this includes overtly flirtatious behavior, touching of the arm and chest area, lingering hugs, sexual innuendo..etc...i don't believe in making honey where i make my money..so i usuall just let the stuff slide. BUT if a guy were to do any of these things..he'd be toast. I am management and these are mostly associate level employees (but they are not directly under my supervision). I give them the old "you know that's not professional" speech , off the record, because i don't think something as trivial as flirtation should warrant someone getting dismissed from their job (not including of course blatant, unsolicited harassment--e.g. sleep with me or you won't be promoted or you'll be fired)...
what do you guys think?
you look better on your facebook page than you do in person hmph!

Better believe it....definately a double-standard... nod

Sexual harrassment education and policy had a time and a place, but it is such a subjective thing that you could get in trouble for getting something in your eye and someone thinks you are winking at them.....

disbelief

a male associate at one of our other locations was fired for mentioning to a female associate that he could see her thong when she bent over (which she was constantly doing to pick things up)...he swore up and down he was just telling her to be courteous since they were supposed to be friends...but she took it as a come on and they fired him eek

That is SO wrong. What if another female friend would have pointed it out...no big deal. UGH! I hate hearing things like this.

My old boss (female) after our meetings would say crap like "Catcha later kitty-cat". Kitty Cat? WTF?

After a while of this, it really got under my skin one day so I said "Excuse me, but I'd like to reserve that right to call me by some pet name for my wife and btw, I don't think I'd like it if even she called me that." I mean, what was that? Some kinda pillow talk? Just because most of management sleeps around does not mean I do.

After that little confrontation, I found out she tried to get me sacked a few times but could never come up with anything good enough. Funny thing, I was just about sick of my job ... (Let me rephrase that. I LOVE MY JOB. It's the folks you have to work with sometimes that can drag your day down.) Anyway, my company got a whole new array of senior management and she (my old boss) was the first to be shown the door.

The new marketing team is EXCELLENT and so very professional. I'm diggin it.
