BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN - AWARD

On September 10, 2005, the 62. Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica came to an end. The international jury has awarded the Golden Lion for best film to Ang Lee's Brokeback Mountain. Silver Lion for best director to Philippe Garrel for Les Amants réguliers. Jury Special Prize to Abel Ferrara for Mary. During the closing ceremony, Stefania Sandrelli has been awarded the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement

Woo hoo! I can't wait to see it.

Chewing gum....not professional. But he can take it out of his mouth and leave it on my bed post anytime he wants.

Liar. You want to see it because it is going to be the best thing out there, cinematically seen, this entire year.

I have seen parts of this movie and it is SO hauntingly beautiful, it will break your heart.

I can't wait. I've read the book like 2000 times. It's easy to do since it's like 2 pages long. The cinematography alone is going to be incredible.

I'm jealous that you've seen some of it. I'm a cry baby. I know it'll get to me.

What Jack remembered and craved in a way he could neither help nor understand was the time that distant summer on Brokeback when Ennis had come up behind him and pulled him close, the silent embrace satisfying some shared and sexless hunger.
They had stood that way for a long time in front of the fire, its burning tossing ruddy chunks of light, the shadow of their bodies a single column against the rock. The minutes ticked by from the round watch in Ennis's pocket, from the sticks in the fire settling into coals. Stars bit through the wavy heat layers above the fire. Ennis's breath came slow and quiet, he hummed, rocked a little in the sparklight and Jack leaned against the steady heartbeat, the vibrations of the humming like faint electricity and, standing, he fell into sleep that was not sleep but something else drowsy and tranced until Ennis, dredging up a rusty but still useable phrase from the childhood time before his mother died, said, "Time to hit the hay, cowboy. I got a go. Come on, you're sleepin on your feet like a horse," and gave Jack a shake, a push, and went off in the darkness. Jack heard his spurs tremble as he mounted, the words "see you tomorrow," and the horse's shuddering snort, grind of hoof on stone.
Later, that dozy embrace solidified in his memory as the single moment of artless, charmed happiness in their separate and difficult lives. Nothing marred it, even the knowledge that Ennis would not then embrace him face to face because he did not want to see nor feel that it was Jack he held. And maybe, he thought, they'd never got much farther than that. Let be, let be.

This is all very romantic. But ya know the gays are going to come out with the porno version. BAREBACK MOUNTAIN. All my friends, including orgers, are calling it that already. lol

And yes, Gooey, it was a story in the New Yorker in 1997. It actually won the US MAGAZINE NATIONAL AWARD.

There's pics all over the internet of Heath Ledger in the buff jumping into a lake.

I wanna see this, but I have a feeling I'm gonna chicken out going to the theater for it. Unless we go at like a noon showing on Sunday or something, LOL.

There's another gay flick coming out soon, called Hellbent. Basically a gay slasher movie.

You know, I have seen a few scenes AND the Toronto press conference. Fuck the gay community dragging it down with their bareback jokes and their obsession of penii. That's not the gay community I am part of, thank you.

This movie is going to be such a beautiful portrayal of love, that it will will leave most silent afterwards.

And Tom, just bring a grilfriend to the theatre. You want to see this on the big screen. Seen the trailer? That first shot? You need to see it on that big screen...

I think I actually have that issue somewhere. I took it to a lecture of hers here in Amsterdam but was too shy to approach her.

And has anyone read The Shipping News? That is an awesome read as well.

The movie is a brave attempt of doing it justice, but you just cannot capture that onto celluloid...

Can't wait! Like MendesCity said, I'm having trouble believing it's a real movie. Any other gay-themed movie that's had this much hype has ultimately pussied out and played it safe in the final cut.

Got it!!! Too bad that in the same picture there's a stunt guy for Jake's character.
