No, but from what I've heard, Kitty Pryde might make Bobby leave Rogue.

I think all of Marvel's movies are based on the Ultimate books rather than the actual Marvel Universe. I think I read that certainly Spider-Man were and I assume X-Men definitely are. nod

Which is kinda dull when one doesn't read the ultimate books. pout

And I still ain't reading them. hmph!

They really ought to stick to the actual Marvel Universe, but I guess they figure their Ultimate Universe is more accessible to new viewers than 40 years of kind-of-continuity. rolleyes

Not even remotely true. The Spidey and X-films both were either released or in pre-production before the first Ultimate books. In fact, VERY little has been taken from the Ultimate books in ANY of the Marvel films.

actully the Ultimate sersis came out after the first X-Men movie as away to attract fans from the movies into the comic books. That way they wouldn't be left in the dark because of the 40 years of history. Also part of the reason they also revamped the orginal titles.

Doesn't matter. Gambit has been cut from the film (he only had a short part anyway).

I do hope this doesn't suck!

I really liked the first 2 X-Men movies, Bryan Singer did a great job. I did
hear various rumors and script ideas about the direction X-Men 3 was taking
and I have to say I was more than a little concerned! That's not to say that
there aren't any good things with storyline (as there are some great sequences)
BUT there are also several things that I think will be HUGE mistakes. And this
report kinda confirms what I'd been worried about... 3 mutant deaths! Now if
they're still shooting the script I'd heard about, we're talking MAJOR
characters here! I just hope they don't fuck the franchise up with this one.

You are right to be concerned. If they are still using the script from about four months ago (and everything I've read indicates they are), then this movie is going to be the biggest steaming pile of turds since Batman & Robin..

SPOILERS FOLLOW:

Cyclops is in the film for all of five minutes. He quickly gets vaporized when Phoenix arises from the lake.

Professor X and Magneto also die at the hands of Phoenix.

The Phoenix story is really just a subplot. The main plot centers around Archangel's father trying to use a "Mutant cure" (if this sounds like the plot of Whedon's first arc on Astonishing X-Men, then you are correct). Worthington Sr. is a fanatical mutant hater, who wants to "cure" the mutants (if this sounds similar to X2, then bingo again).

The opening scene has Beast evading secret service agents at the White House. Lets see...blue, agile mutant evading secret service agents to get to the President? Hmmmmm.....where have we seen that before?

Storm and Wolverine have a romance. Why, I have no idea. Its never been hinted at in the comic, and they have no screen chemistry whatsoever. rolleyes

No Nightcrawler or Colossus. Guess they were just introduced for the hell of it in the last film.

Halle Barry's Storm has a huge part. 'Nuff said.

It seems apparent that the Powers That Be at Fox and Marvel no longer give a shit what fans want to see. All they really care about is beating Singer's Superman Returns to the theaters, even if they have a lousy script. Instead of waiting for Singer (which is what they should have done), they are rushing into production without a decent script, director, etc. Ultimately, they are going to make Singer look like a genius for passing on this piece of crap.

It has been explored in print, but like the Kitty-Iceman-Rogue love triangle, it took place in the pages of Ultimate X-Men.

Interesting stuff. I don't know what your sources are, but the Wizard magazine interview says a leaked script that had been circulating online earlier this year -- one that included some of what you predict -- has been majorly revised. (And I hope so, because this does sound like crap.)

Moreover, I wouldn't doubt that everything we've heard, even from Brett Ratner and Avi Arad's mouths, is complete hogwash. It's not uncommon these days that filmmakers will intentionally plant fake scripts, fake synopses and fake leaks to bolster the mystique of a pending project... and when a film producer, himself, starts giving away plot hints, you've gotta take it with a bit of pause. hmm

I truly hope you're right. The main thing that concerns me is all the scenes I've read about them filming match this crappy script to a "T". I'm praying I'm wrong, but...I'm not getting my hopes up.

Arad and Ratner claim it has had "major" revisions, yet all the plot points they hint at were in that bad script, so one way or another they are BS-ing us.

I'm curious... Have you heard anything regarding Gambit's role if he's not being nixed altogether? Would he be a good guy, bad guy, or sort of a loose cannon?

I think Gambit is horribly overrated, but I think it might be cool to see him onscreen as a bad guy. I don't think he'd work too well as one of Xavier's crew, though, because his rogue personality is already pretty much covered by Wolverine.

He only originally had a cameo, akin to Hank McCoy's in X2. Last I heard, he was completely cut out of the film altogether.

Yeah, that's the script I was talkin' about
(though I wasn't gonna be so spoilerific about it wink )

I'd had my fingers crossed that they'd ditched that script, or at the very
least done some serious re-writes. But unfortunately every time any new info
leaks out, it just seems to confirm that they are indeed going ahead with it.
Oh well, I guess we'll just have to wait til next year to see whether they
manage to turn chicken shit into chicken salad.

Hmmmmm.....where have we seen that before?

nod It does appear that we are getting chicken shit. Even if they put some lettuce on it, it will still be chicken shit, just with greenery.

Doesn't it suck that Rick Jones has yet to appear in any of the Marvel movies (especially Hulk), since he is the linchpin of the entire Marvel universe?

I'm such a geek, it's a wonder I've ever seen a woman naked outside of a magazine.
