I Don't Get Lowe's

Anybody have a Lowe's near you? Several hundred thousands of square feet of tools, wood, appliances. I just don't get it. Who enjoys these places? Maybe it's because I have a complete lack of ability when it comes to building things or fixing things but I just don't get the appeal. The Lowe's across from our house is always packed. Why? Do all these people know how to fix stuff, spackle and whatnot? Should I have taken a shop class back in high school? Am I a bad person because I don't know how to construct a deck?

Any Lowe's fans here?

Dude, we just dropped close to $400 at Lowes last weekend...

Playing the real estate game is easy money if done right, and
home improvement is the key.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I have a hard enough time vacuuming. How am I ever going to improve my house? I am pretty much resigned to the fact that I have decreased the value of my home so far that no one will ever buy it.

What's the difference between Lowes & Home Depot?

home depot has two words...lowes has one

Virtually nothing. Home Depot is a little bit more fancy-schmancy but they are both are filled with tools and things that I could not figure out how to work if I had three lifetimes.

I am tool and construction illiterate as well, and I did take shop class in the 7th grade. I can slam a hammer and turn a screw, but don't expect Bob Vila, more like Babagnuesh (sic).

I hate all of those home improvement stores....Lowes, Home Depot etc. I cringe when I have to go in there for something, just going in there seems so boring. I'd die of boredom if I had to work there.

I like what they have at Lowe's. They have these buttons throughout the store and you push it and this voice comes over the loudspeaker. "BIIIIINNNNGGG...A CUSTOMER NEEDS HELP IN PLUMBING...BIIIIINNNGGGG! And then 45 minutes later, some blue clad unenthusistic dude comes up and confuses the hell out of you.

"Yeah, that is over there next to the framwork stoppleheimers...Aisle 78. Walk about a quarter mile, it's next to the [unintelligible]"

..can only speak from my experience...but Home Depot employees are more customer friendly than Lowes...there are several of both stores near me..and I've been in most of 'em, and the folks at Lowes never really seem to give a shit if I buy something there or not; whereas, at Home Depot, those cats will show you what you need, how to use it and damn near offer to do the project fo ya...customer service at it's finest biggrin

I guess it can be equated this way:

Lowe's=Wal-Mart
Home Depot=Target

They sell the same crap but Targets are cleaner and generally speaking have a more friendly staff, just like Home Depot.

personally i love hardware stores. they smell great and there's always something there i've never seen before.

mind you, i might not actually have a lot in the way of carpentry skills but the presence of all those supplies and tools makes me feel....more powerful somehow.

like i COULD change the world if only i had the right kind of power drill nod

I used to hate, hate, HATE going into Lowe's. My ex-boyfriend always had a cause to be in there, whether he was in search of a new cieling fixture or stuff for a dog house or just whatever.

It bored me to no end! And the place always smells funny.

I hate Lowe's.

I hate Walmart.

I love going to Lowe's, they always have hot guys all over the place working there. And if you play dumb and get a confused look on your face, they come running over to talk to you and answer your questions.
