I recently started working in a high school, replacing some teacher who's ill. I'm not sure for how long I can stay there.

My students are between 15 and 17 years old and I teach them Dutch, their mother-language, so the topics can be very broad.

The school is really really conservative. Today I told them they could propose some topics to me, which I might choose to work out. They looked at me like an alien was standing before them and said "We don't know that, miss, no one ever asked".

I'm hoping I will get them a bit more open, daring and creative but until then...

What topics do you think are cool?

I have a hand-book, so it's not that I'm desperate, I just love to get inspiration from different corners...

i can ask my 16 yr old tomorrow when he gets home from school ...
