Girls Town This movie came out in 96 but it's one of my favorite movies ever. It's so powerful. It's the story of a rape and how the best friends of the girl who was raped deal with the aftermath. I won't give too much away but the depiction of the issues all these girls face is very real and heartwrenching.
This is a movie you need to watch over and over to get all the layers and understand the full impact of the rape on each of the girls lives. How they process it, how they deal with the pain, how they react. It wasn't until the 3rd time that I watched it that I understood the opening scene. It shows the girl who got raped walking in slow motion and it took me to the third time to understand what is being heard during that scene. I won't say anything more than that. Lili Taylor is one of my all time favorite actresses and her performance as a tough girl is amazing. I love nearly all her work and this performance highlights why I love her so much. All the performances are great. I just wanted to recommend this movie and also give my respect to any woman who has endured the violation and horror that is rape.

I saw it a very long time ago. Lilli is incredible. I've followed her career also. She was incredible in I SHOT ANDY WARHOL.

Do you understand what I'm saying about the opening scene and why it took me a few times to understand it? It's funny because I will classify this as one of my favorite movies and people ask "how could that be a movie you love, it's depressing as hell" and I always say if a movie moves me, even if it sends me into the pit of despair, I conider that movie a great movie if it is albe to work my emotions that way. .
