each conference has 4 divisions with 4 teams in each division:

North
East
South

another talking point for you, 2the9s:
how will the NEW ORLEANS SAINTS do, faced with the prospect of NOT being able to play their 8 home games..
right now the word is they will play some games in SAN ANTONIO TX (where their team facilities are right now) & some games in Baton Rouge LA, north of New Orleans..
Saints' coach Jim Haslett was "under pressure" to coach the team to a good season this year, but with all that's happening in New Orleans.. the team ownership has got to cut him some slack.


GOOD CHOICE on wanting to follow the NFL this season 2the9s.
for about the last 30 years (or more)
the NFL has been THE MOST POPULAR professional sports league in the USA,
& WITH GOOD REASON :

- traditional team rivalries

- rules that make it easier for the offense to score many points & have big plays

- the "league parity" which generally means that the better teams have "harder schedules" (=they play more of the other good teams) & the worse teams have the 1st picks of the best college players in the college draft..
so EVERY season, there are at least 3-4 teams that had a BAD record the previous year & then the next year they have a GOOD record & make the playoffs. in '03, the San Diego Chargers were 4-12 (4 wins, 12 losses)..
last year in the '04 season these same Chargers WON 12 games & lost 4..
EVERY year - at least at the beginning of the season - some team is going to come out of nowhere & have a big season.


the DRAMA, the ACTION, the STRATEGIE & the

EXCITEMENT

of the NFL is SECOND TO NONE.

& it's really the main reason I'm in the USA right now
instead of somewhere in Italia or France..
