I've been trying the drops and they don't help.

Do you wear contacts then? My old brand of contacts made my eyes very dry, but I bought little canisters of saline and put one in my handbag. That way I could fix it whenever I needed to. If you're not using contacts I suggest seeing an eye doc, your tear canals might be clogged or something?

...I did have a freaky chick I was dating ask me to lick her eyes...I thought she was a wierdo...maybe her eyes were just dry....

My eyes dry out a lot, but that's because I wear contact lenses. I use those Re-Nu rewetting drops.....they're pretty good. That stuff can be kinda expensive though, like when I run out of solution and drops at the same time and have to buy both. It'll save money if I just wore my glasses again.....they can be pain at times too though....always sliding down and obstructing my side view I can't win.
