Have you met your equal yet?

Have you met someone that you feel at the end of the day, whether having an arguement or kissing and cuddling, that you feel understands your views and how you feel as a person? If not, then what would you consider "your equal" person? Your soulmate????

Would they be someone who knows how to listen while argueing their point during an arguement?

Not afraid to tell you whats wrong when you notice that they are down?

Someone who is spontaneous and full of life?

Lowkey and laidback?
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I have met a soulmate.

But not an equal.

I doubt one exists - not in terms of being equal, but in terms of being in the same headspace. God help them if they actually do exist.

In some ways, yes, in that she understands me on a non-verbal level completely. An innate (p?) understanding from just being around each other a lot and just knowing most of the time how the other feels.

Having an argument is often rather ridiculous when it comes to a war of words, since I clearly have the upper hand and could metaphorically bash her over the head with all manner of smartassery and manipulation of a language that is, after all, her second. It's a power imbalance that needs careful consideration. In other ways though, in the sense that she will show me when she thinks I'm wrong, does listen to me, is open about how she feels, and is capable of reasoned, logical argument most of the time, she's a great partner.

Ultimately though, she's more like the opposite of me, which means between us all the areas are covered and we learn from each other, which is how I always wanted it to be - different culture, different upbringing, opposite tempers, she's night, I'm day etc.

I never get bored, we do clash in some ways, but we learn and we're both smart enough with it now to do so in a calm, reasoned way, and always with the understanding that we love each other absolutely.

Great question...

I've met several people I consider "soulmates," but I've met perhaps only one person I'd consider as having the almost identical psyche. And what an encounter! eek

Long story short, first we were mutually captivated, then we fell madly in love, then we were both terrified and revolted by the other, then we eventually profoundly hated each-other. Now, I think we're generally over all the passionate reactions, but we'd do well never to see the other again in this life.

Lesson learned: That study in displaced narcissism taught me I'd sooner wrestle my own demons than having to wrestle them to the second power. lol

NEVER!! lol

I don't really think of my partner as an "equal" in that sense but rather as complementary. I would say that their are many similarities between us but also differneces and that together we make a pretty good team. If we were too equal ther would be all out WAR pissed

I would say that my closest "equals" were my best male friend and my brother.

I tink I have met my soulmate, and possibly equal. Im not sure how I feel about that though! What can you do?!
What he misses in equal terms I have a friend who makes up for them all. We are so similar, and sometimes volatile!

All good I suppose, i need to stop taking these things for granted....

Nero is about as close to an equal as can be.

As for men, pffft, there has been no equal.

Byron

I've found my "equal" among the few friends I've made over the years...

But as Predom said, when it comes to lovers, I consider them my "complementary"...very similar in many ways, yet different enough so that the discovery of who they are is continual, and beautiful. Hopefully they'll feel the same towards me.

It's true! biggrin It's pretty rare that I meet someone who is intellectually up to par and I nearly never meet anyone that comes anywhere close to the levels of my spirit and heart.
