My friend's dog is afraid of blimps Now I can understand him being afraid as it looms large in the sky but one time I was walking him and all of a sudden he jerked on the leash and took off like a bat out of hell. I ran with him and calmed him down asking him what was wrong, as if he was going to answer me . Then I turned around and saw through the trees a literal cigar sized blimp waaaaayyyyy off in the distance. I swear this thing was so tiny in the sky because it was so far away and he was still afraid of it.

We were trying to figure out what the deal was and I remembered this story I heard on NPR where an ostrich farmer lost over half of his herd of ostriches after they went wild and stampeded, committing suicide against the fence as they all tried to escape.....a hot air baloon The farmer said that being that the ostriches are descended from prehistoric creatures that the ostriches prehistoric instinct kicked in when they saw the hot air balloon and that they must have thought they were being hunted by a giant taradactyl



Is anybody else's dog afraid of blimps or is my friends dog a nutcase?

When that is said.... I'm a bit afraid of blimps myself. Yeah, I know, it's crrrrazy. But it just feels like they're gonna come down and grab me, and fly away with me. I can control this fear though, especially if I'm with someone else (maybe the blimp will 'grab' them instead of me. )
