Coffee Connoisseur's...question for ya I got one of those coffee bean grinders, and a new coffee pot that has a chlorine filter built into it. I've tried out like 4 different kinds of beans, and they all have a "burnt" taste when I brew them.
Anyone here work at Starbucks or some place like that? LOL. I'm not sure if its the filter, from grinding the beans too long, from refrigerating the beans, etc...

Refrigerating the beans should be no problem, I do that as well to preserve the aroma and the freshness. Maybe you grind them too long. When you grind them too long the finely ground coffee powder can be used for other coffee making methods, like, for instance, a real Turkish mocca or maybe some form of espresso, but the coffee might no longer give you the desired flavor when brewed with a filter. Try it one more time with less grinding and the coffee should taste better. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Starbucks is double roasted as they put it, or does throw off the burnt taste. Try The coffee bean. Do they have one by you? My favorite has been a broad Cove blend from Newfoundland. Start experimenting!

If it was a brand new machine it's best to run it through on just water to break the heating element in. THis can give the coffee a burned metalic taste for the first few brews.
Either that or choose a medium roast if you don't like he heavy dark roast flavour. FYI - I have never worked in Starbucks edit [Edited 9/5/05 3:11am] Happy is he who finds out the causes for things.Virgil (70-19 BC). Virgil was such a lying bastard!

My people made coffee famous, but it was the Ethiopians who discovered and invented it. Two merchants from Syria later on introduced coffee to the Palace and the Sultan liked it...other Sultans of other generations sometimes didn´t and declared it illegal and punished those who frequented coffee houses, at that time gathering points of critical thinking people. Coffee quickly became the most important beverage of the Janissaries and kept them awake all night so they could carry on with their attacks without needing a lot of sleep. ( The Janissaries, in Turkish called Yeni Tsheri, i.e the New Army, were some sort of elite army which consisted of non-Turkish fighters who were stolen as kids and became the fiercest and most brutal fighters, later they also accepted Turkish members and got bigger and scarier, to the extent that later they were all killed, all of them, by the other Army...) Anyway, so much for history.....the Janissaries tried to invade Vienna , I guess around 1683, but failed and had to leave their coffee bags behind...at that time nobody knew about coffee in Europe so they thought it´s camel food. One Polish guy knew about coffee, got the bags and opened the first coffee house in Vienna...maybe that was after the second siege a century later, I´m not too sure. That´s how coffee was introduced to West Europe...the Balkans were already drinking it for ages. Today, Turks drink more tea than mocca, but mocca still has its special place. Coffee isn´t consumed in heavy doses like tea, only after a meal or when you unwind...but they drink tea all day and night from small glasses. You need a cezve to prepare a real Turkish mocca, and make sure you don´t boil it ! Mix the coffee powder and cold water in the cezve, add sugar if desired, and let it simmer until you see foam on top. Take it off the stove before boiling, making sure not to destroy the foam, pour into small mocca cups, enjoy. ! " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness!
