Bbrrrr! Its cold in this room. Whats the coldest you've ever been and how did you warm up?

It's always cold in this house. The vents are huge and they're everywhere. I keep a blanket on the sofa or put on a hoodie.

Oh forget it then. For crying out loud.

I'm not so sure about the scope of this subject, but here goes:


The coldest I've ever been was when me and a group of friends went snorkling in Rainbow River Springs Florida. The temperature for the day was 86, but the water is a consistent 69 degrees F.

Anyways, after 2 hours or so, the water had sufficiently drained our bodies of warmth (non of us wore wet suits), and we'd driffted far enough down stream from the dock that we essentially had to find an openning on the bank (owned by a private owner) to get out and walk until we found a road and nagivate back to our car.

I've been in below freezing temperatures before, but it was nothing compared to having the water suck the heat out of you. I was sick the rest of the day.

Ugh, when we were snowed in on the I-80 freeway between Nevada and California for eight hours overnight, that was a little ass-sucky! And I had to get out and put on what seemed like everyone's chains. I had never even done it before. Made some money, though. First time I'd seen snow and couldn't feel my hands, eyelids, face, everything the snow touched. There was a small pile of snow on all our eyelashes. And we were soaked.

The other time was when we camped out at the beach a few months ago and caught our tent on fire. Holey tent, freezing winds, one small blanket... but we had vodka.

My coldest was about -48 wind chill up the Matterhorn last year when we were in Cervinia/Zermatt

Coldest I've ever been was climbing Mt. Blanc. But the serene tranquility of the environment was a more than adequate reward.
