1. What do your parents do for a living? my dad's been on disability for the past 10 years or so, so he hasn't been working...before that he worked at most of the hotels in downtown des moines in banquet services. my mom passed away 17 years ago...she worked for the state of iowa as a mail room clerk.

2. Are they still together? If so, how many years have they been married? see above.

3. How many siblings do you have? Brothers or sisters? What are the age differences? one brother (orlando) and one sister (monica). both are in their 40s now.

4. Where do you rank in birth-order (youngest, oldest, middle child)? Do you think this has had anything to do with the way you've "turned out"? i'm the youngest of 3...i didn't grow up with my siblings, so i don't think it's affected me any.

5. What do your siblings do? What is your relationship like with them? i haven't a clue what my sister does (and don't care, frankly)...my brother's been on disability his whole life, so he's never worked. me and my brother get along just fine, but the both of us can't stand our sister. she's a nosy, conniving, loud, obnoxious, fat ol' bat. she's convinced that the both of us are mentally retarded and will never amount to anything. i avoid speaking to her at all costs; in fact, a couple months ago my dad said that he had ran into her somewhere and she said she was gonna be coming up here to minneapolis to do something and wanted to know my phone number and where i live so she could see me. i told 'im "don't tell her shit."

6. We seem to have a fair number of gay Orgers. If you are gay, has this had any effect on your relationship with anyone in your immediate family? Are any of your immediate family members gay? thankfully, no--when i came out to my dad a few months ago he told me that he already knew i was gay, and he still loves me no matter what. my guess is that if i told the rest of my family they'd say "i knew it!" too. lol i have a cousin who's supposedly a lesbian, and my brother's dad is supposedly bi. i don't know either one too well, so i don't know for sure.

7. Anything especially interesting in your family tree? not that i know of. i don't know much about my family tree to begin with.

1. What do your parents do for a living? My father is retired, remarried and has been living in Guadalajara, Mexico for about 5 years. My mom died in 1994.

2. Are they still together? If so, how many years have they been married? See above.

3. How many siblings do you have? Brothers or sisters? What are the age differences? I'm an only child.

4. Where do you rank in birth-order (youngest, oldest, middle child)? Do you think this has had anything to do with the way you've "turned out"? See above.

5. What do your siblings do? What is your relationship like with them? See above.

6. We seem to have a fair number of gay Orgers. If you are gay, has this had any effect on your relationship with anyone in your immediate family? Are any of your immediate family members gay? I'm gay, I think my dad is bisexual. There are a lot of homosexuals on my dad's side. One of my uncles was gay (deceased), another is bisexual (but he's also crazy as hell, in a bad way). My parents were great when I came out at age 16(?). I can't believe how supportive they were.

7. Anything especially interesting in your family tree? Not that I know of.

Interesting (she's a Canadian girl). How is she related? How did you find out?

My great aunt did the family tree. I guess a bunch of Portugese relatives came over and settled into Canada. She's a very distant cousin.

Well he wasn't around too much when I was growing up. My brother was into drugs and my father was too embarrassed to deal with it. He would tell us to "call the cops on him". neutral I dabbled but never got caught by him, had he found out he probably would have disowned me. He's a weird guy and can't deal with emotions, he'd rather write you off to make it easier for him.

ALRIGHT...i'll answer the questions neutral

1. What do your parents do for a living?
dad's a steel worker and mom's a nurses aid...

2. Are they still together? If so, how many years have they been married?
Surprisingly...yeah they are still 2gether...ACTUALLY...they were supposed 2 divorce before i was born...and well...they made up...how do i know this? i was born as a result of their making up... SURPRISE!!! mad i think it's about time they called it quits...going every other week with them fighting gets 2 be sickening.

3. How many siblings do you have? Brothers or sisters? What are the age differences?
ok...4 brothers and a sister...but only 2 of my brothers are biological..the other two my dad had with some other woman before my mom came along... the youngest of my brothers is 29(i think...dont remember, don't care...) and the eldest is over 40 i think...

4. Where do you rank in birth-order (youngest, oldest, middle child)? Do you think this has had anything to do with the way you've "turned out"?
i'm the baby...and because i'm so far in age from the other youngest sibling...none of my brothers are close with me...in fact i can't really tolerate being around them nowadays...my sister and i are real close...cuz we're the only girls... i turned out fine...i did @ one point have a bad perception of men because of how irresponsible and stupid my brothers can be...but meh..

5. What do your siblings do? What is your relationship like with them?
again...not close with the guys...don't know what they do...i'm pretty sure 3 out of 4 of them don't have a steady UNSHADY job... rolleyes my sister is a nurse's aid..just like mum...and again...she and i are very close..

6. We seem to have a fair number of gay Orgers. If you are gay, has this had any effect on your relationship with anyone in your immediate family? Are any of your immediate family members gay?
naw...

7. Anything especially interesting in your family tree?
uhmm..i don't know anything about my dad's side of the family (secretive man he is...) but i kno my mom's dad have over 40 children...he confessed this 2 me on his death bed...he was an awesome man...wonder what happened with his children tho...cuz the lot of them are just...messed up.

Anxiety

1. What do your parents do for a living?

My mother works for the Department of Corrections as a personnel director, and my father has been a dietary supervisor for a hospital for at least as long as I've been alive.

2. Are they still together? If so, how many years have they been married?

Nope. They divorced when I was about 7.

3. How many siblings do you have? Brothers or sisters? What are the age differences?

I have a half-brother who is about 15 years younger than I am. We both consider ourselves only children, though, because we were brought up in separate households, on our own. Also, I haven't been in touch with my half-brother for many years - in fact, we only got back in touch just this year, after over a decade of being out of touch.

4. Where do you rank in birth-order (youngest, oldest, middle child)? Do you think this has had anything to do with the way you've "turned out"?

Growing up as an only child probably has EVERYTHING to do with how I've turned out. I'm independent, I prefer working by myself to working as part of a team, I don't bore easily when left to my own devices, and I'm probably one of the least co-dependent people I know. lol

5. What do your siblings do? What is your relationship like with them?

My halfster works for a phone company doing user support. We get along well, but there's a distance between us. I don't think he quite knows how to relate to me yet.

6. We seem to have a fair number of gay Orgers. If you are gay, has this had any effect on your relationship with anyone in your immediate family? Are any of your immediate family members gay?

My mother initially reacted with a paucity of tact, grace or respect. After I went to college and she made friends with a few people who were queer as catfarts, she eventually calmed down and became more accepting. Plus, it was the mid-90s...it was cool to be gay back then. I think my mom warmed up to it because Roseanne was doing all the gay shit on her show, and my mom loved Roseanne's show. So heck, maybe TV isn't always evil.

As for my dad? I don't know. It's complex. Really weird and complex. Short answer: I don't care.

7. Anything especially interesting in your family tree?

My great-aunts are Lilian and Dorothy Gish.

My dad's side of the family is an offshoot of the Amish called the German Baptist Brethren.

My maternal grandma tried out for the part of Darla in The Little Rascals, but just cried when she got on stage to audition.

My mom was a rock drummer when she was a teenager, and she was also a writer for teen magazines - her biggest claim to fame was interviewing The Who in the mid '60s (she said they were mean).

Overall, though, I'm clearly the most interesting person in my family thus far.

1. What do your parents do for a living? My mom is a retired nurse and now works as an elementary school classroom/lunchroom aid. My dad is deceased, but had retired as a manager at Standard Oil's (now BP) Cleveland refinery location.

2. Are they still together? If so, how many years have they been married? My mother is a widow. They would have been married for 35 years now.

3. How many siblings do you have? Brothers or sisters? What are the age differences? One older sister, 40; one younger brother, 26.

4. Where do you rank in birth-order (youngest, oldest, middle child)? Do you think this has had anything to do with the way you've "turned out"? I'm the middle kid. If this effected the way I've "turned out," I'd say so to the extent that I am perhaps the most aloof, roguish and eccentric. At the same time, though, I'm also the most traditional and pious in many ways, being the only one of the three who has ever been actively involved in the church, is now married, owns a home in the 'burbs, has a kid and a graduate education and lives in the same city as my mom. I guess I embrace middle-American convention and then give it a personal makeover. rainbow

5. What do your siblings do? What is your relationship like with them?My brother is a deputy sheriff; my sister is the head of accounting for a municipal airport. We love each other and are decent friends, but aren't super "close" due to geographical distance and the fact we often just aren't up to date on each other's lives.

6. We seem to have a fair number of gay Orgers. If you are gay, has this had any effect on your relationship with anyone in your immediate family? Are any of your immediate family members gay? My coming out was a shock to my mom and siblings, despite the fact they had joked about my being gay for years based on my neatness, fashion sense and lack of girlfriends despite suitors. I never told my dad, because he was dying of Alzheimer's when I came out and couldn't have appreciated the information. Because I had (and still maintain) the only successful marriage and family of my siblings, I think my homosexuality is an enigma to them all. I don't fit the stereotype or expectations. They've assured me they love and support me, but have never asked about it or brought it up since I told them. It's sort of the elephant in the room. I have one close cousin who is a Lesbian and one distant cousin in CA whom I met only once as an adult and who was suspected of being gay. He succumbed to AIDS a few years ago.

7. Anything especially interesting in your family tree? My dad was 60-years-old when I was born; was 1/2 Irish, 1/4 Cherokee, 1/4 Black; and more often than not was mistaken as white. He had straight hair and grey/blue eyes. I grew up in one of the most dense concentrations of Chasidic Jews outside of Israel, and most of my neighbors assumed my dad was an Eastern European or Sephardic Jew. Heads rolled whenever they saw him with the rest of the family. lol

1. What do your parents do for a living? My father was managing a community center for the village Catholic church. My mother helped out full-time. My father was also an artist; he made drawings and woodsculptures.

2. Are they still together? If so, how many years have they been married? Both my parents passed away, my father twentyfive years ago at the age of 50, my mom last year, ages 62. They were sperated, but were still working together.

3. How many siblings do you have? Brothers or sisters? What are the age differences? One half-brother on father's side, one brother and two sisters.

4. Where do you rank in birth-order (youngest, oldest, middle child)? Do you think this has had anything to do with the way you've "turned out"? I am the youngest. I had a comparedly easy youth, as all my brothers and sisters did most battling for me. When I was 13, my mom gave me the key to the house and told me I could do whenever, whatever, as long as I told her where and with whom. I never used that freedom until I was 16.

5. What do your siblings do? My brother works on the cleaning department of a hospital, my eldest sister is clerk at a police station, my youngest sister is full-time mom, next to doing some cleaning jobs, but in reality is such a good photographer she could make it her work; check her out; http://4mar.deviantart.com/gallery/

What is your relationship like with them? My relationship with my siblings deepened when my mom passed away. We were thrown in with eachother violently, then needed some space and now we are all at crossroads. We are all opening up to life again.

6. We seem to have a fair number of gay Orgers. If you are gay, has this had any effect on your relationship with anyone in your immediate family? I am gay, have been openly so since I was 16 (after realising the fact when I was 13). My mum always kind of 'knew'; I have always been a hyper-sensitive child.
Everyone in my family had to get used to me being openly gay, though. I have never been a flag-waver for the gay community, so they had time to get used to it slowly. They opened their hearts for both relations I had in my life.

Are any of your immediate family members gay? The only one I am aware of is the uncle of my mother, who was a monk in a monestary. My mom was smart and sent me to him when I went through this religieous phase. He opened my eyes to the faiths and kind of settled me in my personality.
He of course never came out, but everyone kind of knew.

7. Anything especially interesting in your family tree? On mother's side I have a connection with Portugal, which means I am raven-haired while I have a blonde sister.

1. What do your parents do for a living? Dad: History lecturer Mum: PE Lecturer/College examiner

2. Are they still together? If so, how many years have they been married? They split when I was 9 but got back together again. I think they've been married for about 25 or 26 years.

3. How many siblings do you have? Brothers or sisters? What are the age differences? 1 sister. There's an age difference of 2 years.

4. Where do you rank in birth-order (youngest, oldest, middle child)? Do you think this has had anything to do with the way you've "turned out"? I'm the older of the 2. I don't know but I am to some extent the black sheep of the family.

5. What do your siblings do? What is your relationship like with them? My sister is doing a law masters degree after completing her degree in history. We get on very well and when we meet up we usually go to the cinema.

6. We seem to have a fair number of gay Orgers. If you are gay, has this had any effect on your relationship with anyone in your immediate family? Are any of your immediate family members gay? My Mum and Dad said as long as I was happy then they would have no problems at all. Although they would be worried with the difficulties I might face. None of my immediate family are gay. Well, not that I know of!

7. Anything especially interesting in your family tree? Probably but nothing that I'm aware of.

Tell us about your family!

1. What do your parents do for a living? My father is a farmer and my mother is the Director of a Hospice program.

2. Are they still together? If so, how many years have they been married? Yes, they've been married for 35 years, and I think they love it. They are always holding hands and traveling together and shit.

3. How many siblings do you have? Brothers or sisters? What are the age differences? I have a younger brother. He is 1.5 years younger.

4. Where do you rank in birth-order (youngest, oldest, middle child)? Do you think this has had anything to do with the way you've "turned out"? I am the oldest. I was definitely bossy to him. I am also very independent.

5. What do your siblings do? What is your relationship like with them? He is a painter for an auto repair shop. He is married with 2 kids. We have nothing in common as he still lives 45 minutes from the population-850-town where we grew up, while I am single, just got a Master's Degree in contemporary art history, and live in New York city. I used to try to call him regulary but he never reciprocates so I gave up and now see him once a year--at Christmas.

6. We seem to have a fair number of gay Orgers. If you are gay, has this had any effect on your relationship with anyone in your immediate family? Are any of your immediate family members gay? I suspect two of my mom's cousins are gay--the guy lives in San Fran and is not married. The girl used to have a female "friend/roommate." No one talks about it. Two of my best friends are gay and my mom loves Kirk's boyfriend and she went to Anne & Nicole's commitment ceremony, so I presume they'd accept it if I were.

7. Anything especially interesting in your family tree? I grew up in the same farm house my grandfather lived in as a child. It's been in the family for 99 years. I am the only person in my family (grandparents, first cousins, sibilings) to get an MA and live more than a couple of hours from where we grew up--or as I like to say, the only one who ESCAPED. biggrin
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Sister raises exotic birds on her spacious property while married to a well off asshole. Brother is in construction. I don't talk to my sister because her husband considers me a bad influence. Translation: He cheated on her, and I told her to take half his money and leave.

5. What do your siblings do? What is your relationship like with them?
Twin sister and her husband have a thriving auto repair shop, our relationship is mostly trouble free. Middle sister is a horse trainer, haven't spoken in over 4 years. She's an abusive bitch. Brother is a manufacturing manager with a bad attitude. Last time I saw him was at Dad's memorial service.

1. What do your parents do for a living? Both of my parents are retired. My dad worked at a steel mill for most of his life, and my mom worked as a secretary at the elementary school I used to attend.

2. Are they still together? If so, how many years have they been married? Yup, they're still together. Next month, they will celebrate their 50 wedding anniversary! My mom was 21 and my dad was 25 when they married.

3. How many siblings do you have? Brothers or sisters? What are the age differences? I have 3 older siblings, all boys. I have an older brother, Mike, who's 48 years old, and twin brothers, Jim and John, who are 47 years old.

4. Where do you rank in birth-order (youngest, oldest, middle child)? Do you think this has had anything to do with the way you've "turned out"? I'm the youngest. Don't think it has any real bearing on the way I "turned out", although my brothers seem to think I got everything I wanted growing up (which is soo not true). lol

5. What do your siblings do? What is your relationship like with them? All 3 of my brothers now live out of town (which is hard, because two of them have young children who I don't get to see much). sad My oldest brother (Mike) lives in Raleigh, North Carolina, and is in communications (not sure exactly what he does, something to do with computers). My brother (John) lives in Phoenix, Arizona, and works for Charles Schwab (he's the vice president there). My other brother (Jim) lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, and he works for Wachovia Bank, I believe in the pension area. He's the head of the department there. My relationship with them now is very good, we're a very loving, tight-knit family, although they used to pick on me a lot when I was little. lol

6. We seem to have a fair number of gay Orgers. If you are gay, has this had any effect on your relationship with anyone in your immediate family? Are any of your immediate family members gay? I'm not gay, and none of my immediate family members are gay.

7. Anything especially interesting in your family tree?[/quote] [b]Hmm, my dad is a first generation Armenian, his parents came over from Armenian during the early 1900's, when the Turks were invading their country. He's quite proud of his heritage.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.
