Why is it always the ordinary man/woman

After every disaster there is the usual donations asked for, which is fine and I always give what I can...But it seems to me that it is always left to the ordinary man/woman on the street to put their hands in pockets,Some of these multi millionaires could help out generously but never seem to..If I had that kind of money Id certainly be sharing it about, I mean how much money do some people need?? Thoughts please.....

my response might surprise you - everybody knows that greed and ostentatious living are some of my major pet peeves - but as a fundraiser for nonprofits, i also know that many rich folks are quite generous and often donate without wanting public recognition.

i'm much more worried about the billions being spent on an unjust war, and the fact that so many National Guard troops are deployed there - you can't tell me that this did not have an effect on the slow response in the hurricane relief. also, i'm curious to see what kind of construction support will be provided pro bono by war profiteering companies like Halliburton...

I know of a few people with a bit more cash in their pockets than average and from what I gather they are very generous. They just don't shout out about it thats all.

exactly nod I know I'm being boring, but going back to Gene Simmons... he's an extremely generous man both with his time and with his money but one of his pet hates is people and stars in particular who brag about it

I know some rich folks give generously but if all rich folks gave a bit more then things would maybe get better...

They donate, they just don't make a spectacle about it. And it should be like that, who wants to hear a millonaire bragging about making a donation? Not me.

More than what? How can you ask for more than what you don't even know?

Valid point!! Perhaps if you lived in the area I lived in and did a charity collection you would understand what I mean, I have done many such collections and it is always the poorer people who give, whilst if you go into a more affluent part of town you are turned away sometimes with a barrage of abuse...
