Just curious if you can help an old man out ...

i had Playstation 2 for about 30 minutes ... lol ... dad bought it for a "family present" a couple of years ago ..... and heard the "shit" cry in one of the "mature titles" and took it back ...

now 3-4 yrs later ... i am curious because i have youngsters ... and they love video/computer things .... so i am more looking for any imput from you experts .... what do u like ? and why???

i prefer playstion 2 although im gettin a psp tomorrow!

I am a grown man, mature beyond my years, wise and soon to be a parent and nothing removes the thought of daily London grind better than blasting the crap out of some alien lifeform.

We also have all the older gaming systems...the Gamecube has a few kid games so it's going to my daughters room...

i loved playing Halflife on the computer ... (but never had playstation2 or xbox of course)...

are their games for 5-10 yr olds??? that are decent???
just curious - my 5 yr old loves playing on the computer - but she only does the disney.com/and nick jr etc ....

depends what kind of money you're trying to spend...$300-400 for xbox360, estimates of up to double that for ps3. (not worth the money for the inital release of a gaming system..sorry

as for ps2 or xbox...xbox games are generally better because it has more processing power than the ps2...when games are released on multi-platforms (ps2, xbox, gamecube)..ps2 usually comes in 3rd because it isn't as powerful as a system as the other two--for instance..two of my favorite games --max payne 1 & 2 are regarded as "classics" on xbox and pc, but given horrible reviews on ps2 because of long load times. also..my xbox games look far superior on my 60" hdtv than ps2 games (most xbox/gamecube games are hdtv ready, ps2 games aren't)
also.. a lot of xbox games allow you to download your own music into the games from cd's (i like to auto race to bloodstone's "natural high"..it just gives the game a whole diffetrent feel
BUT...

more pople own ps2's..so if you're into anything sports related, like madden, nba live or anything like that...get the ps2 because what you lose in graphics you'll make up in gameplay.

xbox's and ps2's are generally going for $129-149 new these days..gamecube is cheaper at $99...and there's a whole huge library of games that you can buy used from like $5 (really good stuff) at electronics boutique, game stop--walmart and target markdown a lot of games too...so you can really build your library up for a fraction of the cost of buying new

yeah - it really is NOT for me ... and i appreciate your comments ... i was actually at a "game stop" or whatever andi saw that they sell refurb or used systems ... and i thought ... dang for the kids ... that would be fun ...

i would get too addicted to it ... and wind up only making 25k next yr cus i was playing xbox or games too much !

I have a Gamecube. WHile I like some of it...the games are pretty much for kids. Not a lot of adult stuff. Too much animae and mario crap.

However the reason I got it is for Mario Party where 4 people can play and compete in a "board game"/ Party atmosphere. They have provided hours of entertainment for me and my friends. I have yet to find this type of game on any other console. My only bitch is that the game is too kiddie looking for me...and doesn't really offer that much strategy for adults. I once played this game for 3DO called Twisted. 4 Player Game Show with definittely mature themes. It was great! I wish there was something that would come out like that.

And the thing is i don't have a lot of time to send on games...nor am I that dexterious any more to get through most of them. I get tired of really hard games with repititious missions ...or missions that are too hard or timed. I also don't like the fighting games. I like to explore and figure things out without dying that much.

Do the other consoles have Party Games or 4 player that aren't fighter games?

Get a ps2 it has the best games! Like Metal Gear Solid!

hell - i was happy with the ole super nintendo i used to have when we would play some "mario go kart" races where we would throw pineapples at the opposing players ... that was wayyyy cool !!!

i do NOT want it to be a babysitter ... just entertainment ... quite frankly ... i think i got 175 channels and i am still so bored with the cable tv these days when i do get an hr to lounge !!!

this isn't the place, but I'll give my two cents and refrain from debating.

Xbox is superior. Plain and simple. Most PS2 fans know that.

Interesting. My father always bought Sony stuff and I was always impressed with it. I buy Sony wherever possible and I guess I carried that over to games consoles. It may have something to do with never really having played the Xbox much as well though.
