Tell us about your family!

1. What do your parents do for a living?

2. Are they still together? If so, how many years have they been married?

3. How many siblings do you have? Brothers or sisters? What are the age differences?

4. Where do you rank in birth-order (youngest, oldest, middle child)? Do you think this has had anything to do with the way you've "turned out"?

5. What do your siblings do? What is your relationship like with them?

6. We seem to have a fair number of gay Orgers. If you are gay, has this had any effect on your relationship with anyone in your immediate family? Are any of your immediate family members gay?

7. Anything especially interesting in your family tree?

1. What do your parents do for a living? My father is a businessman. My mother is essentially a homemaker, although she has worked in the business from time to time. They are opposites (my mother is the creative type).

2. Are they still together? If so, how many years have they been married?
They are still together and have been married 45 years.

3. How many siblings do you have? Brothers or sisters? What are the age differences?
I have a younger brother and an older sister. My brother is 5 years younger than myself and my sister 15 months older.

4. Where do you rank in birth-order (youngest, oldest, middle child)? Do you think this has had anything to do with the way you've "turned out"?
I am a middle child. As for the second part of the question: shrug.

5. What do your siblings do? What is your relationship like with them?
My brother is an advertising account executive in Los Angeles. My sister used to work in the family business, but is now raising her children and enjoying my brother-in-law's money. razz I get along better with my brother - he's more like me.

6. We seem to have a fair number of gay Orgers. If you are gay, has this had any effect on your relationship with anyone in your immediate family? Are any of your immediate family members gay? N/A.

7. Anything especially interesting in your family tree?
Apparently one of my great grandparents was an editor at The New York Times.

1. What do your parents do for a living?

Father used to be a teacher and then a writer. Mother has passed away, but worked in a bank and then raised a shit load of kids.

2. Are they still together? If so, how many years have they been married?

No.

3. How many siblings do you have? Brothers or sisters? What are the age differences?

8 (9 of us including me)

I have 3 younger brothers, 2 older half-brothers and 1 older half-sister on my mum's side, and 1 older half brother and 1 older half-sister on my dad's side. So there are 9 of us all together. For most of my childhood, 7 of us (bar my dad's 2 older kids) lived in the same house, so I naturally consider them to be 'full' brothers and sister, if you like. The other 2 i'm not as close to.

Age difference. Well, oldest is 40 and youngest is 22.

4. Where do you rank in birth-order (youngest, oldest, middle child)? Do you think this has had anything to do with the way you've "turned out"?

eldest of 4, but in the middle of 9. wink Dunno.

5. What do your siblings do? What is your relationship like with them?

Fuck, where do i start.

'Full brothers' - one is a teacher in China, one is a zoologist currently training to join the RSPCA, one works as a contact point/support for benefits claimants in the UK.

Elder half-sisters: one is a psychologist, and one is a housewife, or 'homemaker', or whatever you call it in a different country.

Elder half-brothers: one is an engineer who works in new advances in microchip technology for a well-known corporation, one is a baking consultant in Australia, and one is a fucked-up junkie.

we're an extremely close family, bar that i don't see too much of my half brother and sister on my dad's side.

6. We seem to have a fair number of gay Orgers. If you are gay, has this had any effect on your relationship with anyone in your immediate family? Are any of your immediate family members gay?

n/a

7. Anything especially interesting in your family tree?

i could go on forever, but i've already taken up shit loads of space just with my immediate family. lol

1. What do your parents do for a living?
ummm... My dad works for a company that has something to do with printing systems. He's worked there for almost 30 years and I really have no idea what he does. My mom works for a company that makes gears and gearboxes for airplanes. I don't know much about what she does either. We don't talk about work.

2. Are they still together? If so, how many years have they been married?
yes, 36 years

3. How many siblings do you have? Brothers or sisters? What are the age differences?
one brother, 5 years older than me

4. Where do you rank in birth-order (youngest, oldest, middle child)? Do you think this has had anything to do with the way you've "turned out"?
i am the youngest, but with the age difference I'm probably closer to the 'only child' syndrome. Either way, I think most of that is a bunch of BS. smile

5. What do your siblings do? What is your relationship like with them?
I don't really know what my brother does. We fought viciously as children, both yelling and screaming as well as punches and kicks (and wrestling and pinching and hair pulling, etc.). We 'get along' ok these days as in we don't fight like we did when we were kids, but I don't really like him much as a person. He's not someone I'd choose to socialize with if he weren't my brother. I adore his children, though.

6. We seem to have a fair number of gay Orgers. If you are gay, has this had any effect on your relationship with anyone in your immediate family? Are any of your immediate family members gay? I'm not gay, but I have an aunt who I suspect is. She's never come out, though.

7. Anything especially interesting in your family tree?
My great, great, great grandfather settled the town of Floodwood, Minnesota. (whoop-te-doo) Supposedly, my father is 100% Finnish and my mother is 100% German. Which is odd in these days in the US as nearly everyone is quite a mix.

Competitive and attention seeking, relatively succesfull.

If I fit the "type" because i am a second (middle) child or if It's just a coincidence I dunno. But I apparently fit the profile.

1. What do your parents do for a living? My father owns his own business.

2. Are they still together? If so, how many years have they been married? Yes and no, I suppose. My mother died when I was eleven, so, I suppose that comes in the whole death parted them bit. If she were still living, they would've been married 32 years this year.

3. How many siblings do you have? Brothers or sisters? What are the age differences? I have one brother who is 12 years older than me.

4. Where do you rank in birth-order (youngest, oldest, middle child)? Do you think this has had anything to do with the way you've "turned out"? The youngest of two. I think it had a lot to do. Rather than have a slightly older sibling, I had more of a third parent through most of my childhood.

5. What do your siblings do? What is your relationship like with them? My brother and I are the best of friends, really. We have our moments like any family members, but our arguments never last very long and then we're laughing about it. My brother works for an insurance company presently.

6. We seem to have a fair number of gay Orgers. If you are gay, has this had any effect on your relationship with anyone in your immediate family? Are any of your immediate family members gay? I'm straight as an arrow. But if I were a lesbian, my dad's pretty cool. He'd have more of a problem if I brought home someone of a different skin-color than if I brought home another woman, I think. Which I guess isn't very nice all the same. smile But, we're southerners yet. No one in my immediate family is gay.

7. Anything especially interesting in your family tree? Not that I can think of.
Insatiable taught me everything I know about balls.

My dad is a vice detective in the narcotics division (soon to be retired thank god), my mom used to be a hairdresser but now she works at a municipal lighting plant.

2. Are they still together? If so, how many years have they been married?

Divorced since I was 9

3. How many siblings do you have? Brothers or sisters? What are the age differences?

Had one older brother, died 6 years ago. He was 6 yrs older than me.

4. Where do you rank in birth-order (youngest, oldest, middle child)? Do you think this has had anything to do with the way you've "turned out"?

younger, I think I would have been much different if I had been 6 years older...I could have beat him up instead!

5. What do your siblings do? What is your relationship like with them?

When he was alive we didn't have a very good relationship. He was mean to me, he resented me for having a good relationship with my father.

6. We seem to have a fair number of gay Orgers. If you are gay, has this had any effect on your relationship with anyone in your immediate family? Are any of your immediate family members gay?

As far as I know, no gays in my family...although I think my cousin would be much better dating women with the track record she has with men.

7. Anything especially interesting in your family tree?

Nelly Furtado is in there somewhere!!

Bit lengthy, but you did ask and I try to use Valid sources confused This one is quite good and appears to be well cross referenced. I was drawn to the Havinghurst Framework (Bottom of page 5).

1. What do your parents do for a living?
My dad is a truck driver and my mom was a factory worker for a long time, now she takes care of my son and works at an ice cream place scooping cones.

2. Are they still together? If so, how many years have they been married?
Nope. I think they were married about 13 years.

3. How many siblings do you have? Brothers or sisters? What are the age differences?
I have one brother, who's about 3 years older than me.

4. Where do you rank in birth-order (youngest, oldest, middle child)? Do you think this has had anything to do with the way you've "turned out"?
I'm the youngest, it had some effect growing up but...none now.

5. What do your siblings do? What is your relationship like with them?
My Brother is a Sargent at a maximum security Prison in Massachusetts. We are very close. Of course we fought as kids but...as we got older and our parents divorced I think we latched on to each other. He was always my protector after that. I'm very proud of him...he's a GREAT guy.

Cool topic!

1.What do your parents do for a living?

My father has been woring for the Minneapolis post office since 1980!
My mother is a house wife and has been for a long time but used to teach french and german.

2.Are they still together?

Yes. They have been married since 1974. Though they claim every other week they are getting a divorce. rolleyes biggrin

3.How many sibilings do you have?

One sister. The age difference is 11 months and two weeks. biggrin

4.What is your birth rank order.

I am the oldest. Yes I think it had alot to do with the way I turned out. I am VERY self suficiant and independent.

5.What do your sibilings do?

My sister is still in college. I love her. We are more like twins than sisters. Like we have telepathic ablities!

6. Are you gay? How does your family deal with it?

I'm not gay (although somethimes I think I am WAY too bi-curious!) But my family doesn't need to know that) But I do have a line of work that they would probably freek about so I guess in a way I can relate.I haven't come out of the closet yet.

7.Anything expecialy interesting in your family tree?

Hmmm...not expecialy...but I have tons of aunts, uncles, cousins, in Brazil that I can't even really communicate with because my Portugees is pathetic! biggrin

1. What do your parents do for a living?
My mom works at a deli in a grocery store. My dad is retired.

2. Are they still together? If so, how many years have they been married? Still together. They've been married 34 years.

3. How many siblings do you have? Brothers or sisters? What are the age differences?
I have two younger brothers; one is 2 years younger, the other six years younger.

4. Where do you rank in birth-order (youngest, oldest, middle child)? Do you think this has had anything to do with the way you've "turned out"?
I'm the oldest. I am bossy, yet I spent a lot of time 'parenting' them when we were young, and I now possess this need to be taken care of.

5. What do your siblings do? What is your relationship like with them?
My brothers are best friends. They both work at a paint/wall covering store and they see each other every single day. As I'm the only girl, I'm slighted a lot, but when we do hang out - we always have a good time and get along smashingly.

6. We seem to have a fair number of gay Orgers. If you are gay, has this had any effect on your relationship with anyone in your immediate family? Are any of your immediate family members gay?
I am heterosexual as is the rest of my family. Boring.

7. Anything especially interesting in your family tree?
My father is 26 years older than my mother. She was twenty-four when I was born, he was fifty. She is now fifty-six and he is Eighty-two.
