It all has the implicit title of "old money" to it. Middle-class Americans love to buy into that. The themes are evocative of "the way things used to be," and "the way I would live my life, if my great-great-grandfather was an Industrial Revolution-era tycoon, and I had a trust fund..."

What sticks out with A&F and such companies is that their predominantly homogenous marketing takes place in a diverse world. So, either buy their clothes or don't (I don't).

But, know what you're perpetuating when you do. A strikingly eugenic fantasy.
