13 years ago i was in the hospital and i was very nervous about being in there and what was going on so my doctor at the time saw i was nervous and started to prescribe me Lorazapam(ativan) and it helped but what he didnt tell me is that they are one of the most addicting drugs you can be on..anyway he told me to keep taking them even tho i really didnt need them and now its 13 years later and im still taking them. well a few years went by abd that quack doctor went out of business and fled to Greece and my new doctor has been telling me for years to get off of this pill so finally in the last month i have been sloely weaning myself off of this drug..but its one of the hardest things ive had to go thru,,im sure somebody on this board knows the feeling of enzodiazepine withdrawl & knows what im talking about...anybody my advice to y'all is if your doctor wants to put you one of these types of drugs think twice about it because they may feel good at 1st but they are a real bitch to get off of

its funny this should be brought up now.

my mother has been on diazepam for years since she had a brain tumor removed and a few weeks ago her doctor cut her dosage from 15mg to 5mg a day. myself and my sister were worried she might not be able to cope and spoke to him but he assured us it was safe.

but last week she ended up in hospital as she felt like she was going crazy and couldnt calm down and it was a difficult and stressful time for us all. the consultant in the hospital couldnt believe her doctor cut her dosage so drastically and put her back on the 15mg a day so hopefully she'll be stable now and we can all get our lives back to semi normal.
