what does "call it a day" mean i've seen this expression from time 2 time & i ain't sure what it means (i ain't a native english speaker).

It basically means, it's over. Let's give up. Let's pack up our things and go home.

It means that someone's pointing at one of the squares on a calendar, and asking what it represents...usually someone will respond with "call it a day".
