HDTV and S-video

I bought a LCD HDTV ready flat Panel TV.

I connected my digital cable box and DVD player to the TV using S-video cables. I have one problem; I can't see a difference between the standard connection and the S - video connections.

Why is that?

To get the best picture you need component wiring. I have a hdtv and I connect with component wiring. I haven't invested in hdtv programming yet so I really do not get the full effect of the tv. Once I upgrade the receiver and can use the other connection that came with the tv - it looks like a computer chord.

Remember "s video" is still digital.

Yes, I know that, I have not gotten HD yet either, but S - video should still improve the feed from the digital cable box, no?

I thought "s video" is still a digital line.

Yes, you are right S video is still a digital line. I made some adjustments last night and s video is indeed a vast improvement.

i'm still hedging about buying a hdtv tuner for my 60"...i really bought for dvd's and games,i'm happy with that part, not caring if the young and the restless or the nightly news was in hdtv or not...the cheapest one i've seen is like $200..and i refuse to pay the cable company almost $100 a month to see a few more channels in hd, especially movies that i already own...
you look better on your facebook page than you do in person hmph!

I thought s-video was analog! super VHS jacks were around on laserdisc players and are still on vhs/svhs vcr's.
