That depends on what is important to you. Personally, I would avoid the Times Square hotels like the plague...Times Square is overwhelmingly commercialized and full of tourist traps. I would say that the Washington Square one will be in the "hippest" neighborhood. The Roger Williams and Carlton are both fine (my parents have stayed at both--they aren't very high maintenance.) I would say that the Carlton is probably the fanciest of these four. Can't vouch for the Chelsea Savoy (FYI for those who may be interested, Chelsea is New York's "gay-borhood"). They are all in non-sketchy neighborhoods.

I was supposed to be going on holiday this year but that's now fallen through... I may be interested in this. I'd absolutely LOVE to visit New York.

I'm going to check out the price of flights, etc..
