yeah, I hate when young people use the N word, and these videos about hoes and bling bling. These people are a bad influence. I'm tired of seeing it too.

What's worse than any form of slang is people saying "the N-word" instead of "nigga".

eek

Are we talking about slang in general or just white teens using terms we deem "black"?

Slang has always been around and I don't have a problem with the use of it by my daughter but she needs to be sort of bilingual in that she can turn it on and off. You need to let kids enjoy their generation. So many are quick to criticize every little thing about what kids are and are not doing. Teach your children how to speak correct english and yet let them have fun.

All of the white/black thing is really about hip hop and that the culture of it goes beyond the hood.

Hip Hop is everywhere not just in compton or the boogie down anymore and its not something that black folks can keep saying its "ours" especially since white kids financially support it. neutral

So blame the suburbia for 50 cent...lol

Meaning????hmmm

I think it was the wording that deepchic used. That "I'm just saying these white kids with the baggy pants hanging smoking a blunt in white-town suburbia want to come around and start acting "gangsta" saying "what up blood" and "nigga", be prepared to get beat down if you aint down with it. "

Maybe I misinterpreted it?

Well, that's real...

If the hood can sense you're frontin'

Black or White...Be prepare for one.....

Fine...if that is how u feel. Just don't be offended when a black person reacts less civiled about it.

Hey, what did I say that could offend? As I said, it's not like these words are mainstays of my vocabulary. Simply put, there may be odd occasions when I'll use them, most likely for comic (intended at least) effect. For me, a middle-class white man living in Bangkok, Thailand, what possible other use could I have for them? All I'm saying is that they're all just words to me. I can say whatever I want. I'm able. That said, I can choose whether to do so or not and being a generally civilised and amiable person I don't just carelessly say whatever I want whenever I want. I don't consider any words off-limits per se but of course that doesn't mean I'll throw them around willy-nilly. I trust my judgement since I trust my intentions aren't dishonorable. I don't think the words are problematic, only the intentions behind them.

This whole "white people can't say this or that" is ridiculous. I've always liked black culture and R&B and such.....I don't think color should have anything to do with it.

Right. And the origins of musical styles is always an unnecessary bone of contention too. For historical accuracy's sake that's fine, but ultimately it doesn't matter who created what. I just want to spend my time appreciating it.

What? This is absurd. Fuck, it may even be true, but who really cares? I've no energy for competition. Is this the point where I'm supposed to get all upset and retort that white folks are best at this or that? Ugh! God I wish I were somewhere else talking about something else.

Wife Beater:

Gangsta..."That is straight Gangsta"...meaning your shit is "hard" and respected in the hood for what it worth.

Pimpin....Same connotation as above, but slightly less abrasive...giving respect and kudos hood style.

Blood...only to be used by "Bloods"....PERIOD....say it and not be affiliated...and get a beat down...FOR REAL!

Cuz....used to be a safe acknowledgement of our brethren, but now has its own connotation with the Bloods to recognize a fellow gangbanger. Again...say it in the wrong territory...and catch hell!

Wife Beater....simply implies and perpetuates the stereotype that "Trailer Trash" whites wore this shirt and attached it to the stigma that they beat their wives in this garb.

But the problem I have with Gangsta and pimpin is the negative origins with it. You got little boys saying they're pimpin this little girl and they're gangsta when they walk and dress a certain way. But they ain't doing nothing but act the fool and further perpetuating the stereotype alot of people have about the Hip Hop community.

I hope I'm getting my point across about clearly.
