You and me both!

Seriously, though, it's like parents are afraid of their own kids these days and they let them have too many choices. "Do you want peanut butter and jelly or chicken or steak or shrimp, Johnny". My mom TOLD me what I was gonna eat, what I was gonna wear, what time I was gonna go to bed. None of this, "are you ready for bed now, sweety"? I mean, WTF?!
mad

I could shout at the kids all day long and they wouldn't do what I said, yet if I give them a choice between 2 things I'm willing to let them do/have, they choose and everyone is happy. I have learned the hard way which techniques work, especially now that beating the living crap out of them is not an option.

I hear ya. Two choices seems reasonable. I guess I"m thinking of my brothers and their wives with their kids: they act like a 1 or 2 yr old can be reasoned with about why it's time to take a bath or go to bed.

It's a global epidemic. And it isn't just fear of conflict either. Parents over here almost seem to believe that their kids know what's best for them. What happened to the value of experience? I definitely see what Charlotte means too though. You need to be a little sneaky to keep those little hellraisers at bay.

I WOULD FUCK A KID UP. My mom didn't play. She threw a fucking iron chair at my ass. Fuck a Nanny 911. One time, i told my mom i was gonna call the cops on her for beating me so bad. So she picked up the phone, dialed 9, 1, and picked up the belt and sat on the couch with the phone beside her and told me to come get it....

and one time i caught the belt, and then i saw this brown blur come towards my face, and i woke up in the hospital with a piece of the belt in my hand with smoke coming off the tip.

biggrin you have to make them think it's their idea, and then they go along with it. I use the same technique with my husband.
