Who knows PCs? I'm looking 2 get a notebook and came across this 1 from HP...

I emailed HP and asked if the HDs can be replaced and they said yes but they've only been tested up 2 100gb. Seagate's coming out with a 160gb 4 notebooks next year. I'm unsure what HP meant in their response. Why would the size of a HD cause problems? What is it linked with? | |

I actually work for HP.
I think that the hard drive that comes as standard has been tested at the plant with that system. If you want to put another drive into it would mean that you would have to do it yourself. possible implications of that would be that your guarantee would be void if they thought you had opened it up yourself. Why not phone them and ask them if they could do one with a larger drive? hope this helps(makes sense) Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! I would wait for the 160gb, beacause laptop installs are expensive. Make sure HP is not front loading your system with stuff you don't need. The Lightscribe on the DVD's is pretty good. | |

They said the hard drives they use r oem. I don't think they have anything larger than 100gb 4 notebooks right now. Seagate's won't be available 'til the 1st quarter of next year. I'm not 2 worried about the warranty as long as they make good products. 1 of the guys I work with is very good with computers and is in fact an ET (electronic technician). I'll have him change it 4 me. I was curious if I'd run in2 any compatiblity problems. | |

Maybe I'll hold out until the beginning of next year 2 see what's out. I've been holding out 4 a notebook since the middle of spring. My main thing is HD space and memory... I'm always doing more than 1 thing and I hate when it slows down  . Thanks 4 the responses! | |
