I;m not sure what time I'd get into the Twin Cites, so I can't commit to picking you up just yet... but I'll keep it in the back of my mind if it's a possibility or not.

I'm not sure how it works...., but I'd love to meet all the purple people, new power people, and new funk soldiers.
Count me in. I'd even say that at least a few peeps can crash my uptown crib (it's not mine, i just rent it) if you promise not to steal any of my ultra-rare bootlegs. Welcome to the New World Odor and

Darin and I came up with one last night and will be posting soon. There's only 2 out of towners coming in, or 3 if you make it, so we're keeping it kinda light. Orgnote! |

if we go to first ave. again this year, hopefully we won't "lose" you in there like last year, muse.

Ex-Moderator | Alright, since there's only a small amount of out of towners we're keeping it kinda light and to the basics. We've got some general ideas, but we'll post an official itinerary close to the date.
Here's what we're thinkin: MinneVasion (10/21-10/22) 2005 Friday night - The best way to see First Ave is at a live show. endorphin74 will be giving you the details on this fabulous evening. Saturday - 2pm - Meet & Greet Uptown in a cute restaurant in Calhoun Square called the Independent. Yummy food and cocktails. Plenty of room to, well, meet and greet each other. If the weather's nice, folks can tool around Uptown after, walk down to the lake, flip through the vinyl at Cheapo, whatever. 8-9pm - Meet somewhere in northeast (locals call it nordeast) Minneapolis. We're still picking a bar for the first of the evening, but then we're taking ya'll to a few more fun places after that. A bit of a pub/club crawl mixing gay and straight, trancey-techno to pop and finishing w/a DJ who'll play our Prince requests. And that's all folks. Short and sweet, but a darn good time. |

So folks can start planning what they may want to do/be able to do, I bring you the Friday nite plan!
We will be enjoying some LIVE MUSIC at FIRST AVE!!!! Friday, October 21 Main Room 6:00 PM Doors 7:00 PM Show/ All Ages 89.3 THE CURRENT PRESENTS THE DECEMBERISTS with special guests CASS MCCOMBS $16.00 advance $17.00 door Thanks to Anxiety, I've fallen in complete LOVE with this band this summer. This is a bit pricey if you aren't familiar with the band, so people may decide to wait till the Saturday events, but anyone is welcome! Remember this is an ALL AGE show and First Ave is non-smoking now! curious? here's a bio from the First Ave site: by Linda Seida Colin Meloy leads the Decemberists, a five-piece outfit whose pop sound has listeners comparing the band with the likes of Neutral Milk Hotel and Belle & Sebastian. Meloy, who hails from Missoula, MT, is the main songwriter for the group. Rounding out the lineup are Ezra Holbrook on drums, Nate Query on upright bass, Jenny Conlee on accordion, and Chris Funk on theremin and pedal steel guitar. Frontman Meloy previously devoted some time to an alternative country group before breaking off to pursue his craft as a singer/songwriter in the city of Portland, a period that eventually led to the Decemberists' formation. He also holds a degree in creative writing. In addition to her duties on the accordion, Conlee also plays piano. Funk is the band's newest member. Before Hush Records released the Decemberists' first album in 2002, the group put out an EP of five tracks. Their full-length debut, Castaways and Cutouts was re-released that same year on the Kill Rock Stars label, and the band began to accumulate a serious fan base. 2003 saw the release of Her Majesty, another fine collection of theatrical indie pop with british folk sensibilities that further cemented their growing reputation as a band to watch. The following year they released the five-part epic EP The Tain, based on the 8th century Irish poem of the same name, followed by their third full-length Picaresque in 2005.
