Thank you so much. That is actually my price range, $100-$150. I stayed at the Marriott the last time that I was there, in the 1800's.....

two hotel ideas:

Ramada Inn Downtown Minneapolis

This is not posh by any means (it's a Ramada!) but it's functional, affordable and SUPER conveniently located. It's a block from main bus lines, 4 or 5 from the light rail and just down the road from First Ave.

Expedia has rooms listed for this weekend for $99 a nite. Weirdly the Ramada site has no rooms listed as available for this weekend. But, we saw the same issue last year and the rooms booked through Expedia went through just fine...

Residence Inn Minneapolis at The Depot by Marriott

More pricey but NOT obscene. It's on the edge of downtown so a TITCH less convenient but in a nice little area (right off the river).

Thanks Endo, and Eskimokisses you are not cheap. I totally agree. It's so damn expensive just to go and sleep for 5 hours.

hmmm

I noticed a number had rooms on Friday and NOT Saturday, I wonder if the Vikings are playing...

FYI- if you are not renting a car, I highly recommend staying in Mpls proper as public transport is not the best in the 'burbs. The Days Inn University would be fine if you couldn't get an affordable room IN downtown...

I don't know why I didn't list that one...I have stayed there. *I* thought it was just fine...everyone I was with spent the next day trashing it. shrug But yeah...super easy downtown location, affordable, and REAL close to one of my favorite Orgers biggrin

Can't stress this enough, folks. Cabs from the burbs are pricey and buses are likely non-existent. Staying downtown Mpls is the only place to stay unless you'll be driving.
